WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard voucher free to use for the first year
For new cardholders, if you apply by August 16, 2021, you’ll get to use the companion voucher for $0 for the first year (for most flights).
Typically, here’s the cost to use it (plus taxes, fees, and surcharges):
- $119 for flights within Canada and to the Continental U.S.,
- $399 for flights to Hawaii, Mexico, and the Caribbean, and
- $399 for flights to Europe.
This offer applies to all these flights except those to Europe. For Europe, you’ll still need to pay the $399 fee at this time.
But with that said, it’s up to $399 saved on your next trip, assuming you take one within one year of being issued the companion voucher. And remember, you get access to this voucher every eyar you have the card.
How to use the WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard companion voucher
How do you make use of the voucher? It’s quite simple.
Book a trip through WestJet for yourself and someone else travelling on the exact same itinerary.
At checkout, you’ll be able to use the companion voucher for one of the tickets. The companion voucher covers the base airfare, but you still have to pay any taxes, fees, and surcharges.
Normally when you use the companion voucher, you pay the fee (up to $399, as shown above) instead of the base airfare. But with this offer, that fee is waived for the first companion voucher you receive.
Current WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard members
Unfortunately, if you already have the card, you won’t be able to take advantage of this offer.
However, if your companion voucher was set to expire between June and December 2021, the expiration date has been extended to December 31, 2021.
So, you’ve still got plenty of time to use it if it was set to expire soon.

First, it has a large welcome bonus – you’ll earn 350 WestJet dollars after you make your first purchase – another big dent in your next set of travel plans.
And here’s what you’ll earn back in WestJet dollars on your purchases:
- 2% back on WestJet purchases, and
- 1.5% back on everything else.
And in addition to the rewards, you get some additional WestJet benefits. We already went over the annual companion voucher, but you also get the first checked bag free for the cardholder and 8 guests travelling on the same reservation.
And of course, there’s the usual RBC credit card benefits of saving 3 cents per litre at Petro-Canada and earning 50 Be Well points per $1 spent at Rexall.
This card has an annual fee of $119, and income requirements of either $80,000 personal or $150,000 household.
Bonus news for WestJet Elite members
If you’re a WestJet Rewards tiered member, there are a couple of extra benefits for you.
First, for the rest of 2021, you can earn up to 2x the WestJet Rewards on flights. How much you earn depends on the fare class.
You’ll earn 50% more rewards on bookings in economy, and 100% more on premium and business class bookings. This only applies to new bookings made after June 4, 2021.
And, you don’t have to worry about losing your status either. WestJet automatically extended everyone’s status until December 31, 2022. You can learn more about this here.
