There's a new rewards partnership in town – Triangle Rewards and WestJet Rewards.
Link your accounts together, and when you shop at Triangle Rewards stores (like Canadian Tire, Sport Chek, and Party City), you'll earn WestJet Rewards.
Likewise, earn Triangle Rewards on flights booked with WestJet.
The catch? There really isn't one. Even if you never plan to fly with WestJet, you can convert your WestJet points into CT Money. There's no harm in double-dipping – it's all free rewards.

Linking your Triangle and WestJet accounts together
To get started, you'll need to link your accounts together. You can initiate the process from either Triangle Rewards or WestJet Rewards.
If you don't already have an account for both programs, start there.
Once you have your account info handy, the rest is simple. Head to the Triangle website's WestJet page.
Once you sign in to your Triangle Rewards account, you'll need to enter your WestJet Rewards account number.
Alternatively, you can link your accounts through the WestJet website or app. In your account settings on the site, you'll find a Rewards Partner tab. Or tap the Account tab in the app and scroll down to"More rewards." Follow the steps, and sign in to your Triangle Rewards account.
Once you complete the process, you'll get an email confirming that your accounts are linked.

You can also earn WestJet points by linking your Skip and Telus accounts.
What you'll earn for rewards
Now let's get into the good stuff – what you'll actually earn for rewards.
WestJet Rewards on purchases at Canadian Tire
At all Triangle Rewards stores (including Canadian Tire, Sport Chek, Party City, and Mark's, to name a few), you'll earn 1 WestJet point per $2 spent.
If you make the purchase on a WestJet Mastercard, you'll earn an additional point per $1 spent.
All of these credit cards are eligible for this bonus:
- WestJet RBC Mastercard
- WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard
- WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard for Business
There are also extra bonuses from time to time, though the details have not yet been released. creditcardGenius' Sr. Financial Product Specialist Jon MacLeod received an unknown bonus on the first 2 purchases he made after linking his accounts.

Triangle Rewards on WestJet flights
Book a flight with WestJet, and you'll earn Triangle Rewards.
You'll get the standard earn rate of 0.4% back on the travel costs for yourself only. You won't earn rewards for any other travellers on the same booking.
You also won't earn rewards on any taxes or fees – simply on the base airfares and carrier surcharges.
Pay for your flight with a Triangle Mastercard, and that earn rate increases to 1%.

Transfer WestJet Rewards to Triangle Rewards
Even if you have no plans to fly with WestJet, there's no harm in double-dipping. At the end of the day, you can transfer WestJet Rewards you earn over to Triangle Rewards.
You need to save up at least 2,400 WestJet points before you'll be able to transfer them. And they're worth a little less than if you simply used them for flights.
2,400 WestJet points will save you $24 on a flight. But transfer those same points to Triangle Rewards, and they're only worth $20. But again, they're free points you can use towards a future purchase at Canadian Tire stores.
You need to initiate point transfers from your WestJet Rewards account.
It's tricky to find, but this link will get you to the right page.
You need at least 2,400 points to transfer, and they can be transferred in 600-point increments above that. You can transfer a maximum of 36,000 points per week.

This transfer is a one-way street – you can't transfer Triangle Rewards to WestJet. Once the transfer is made, there's no undoing it.
The transfer should be instant, but can take up to 48 hours.
