If you have a TD Rewards or cash back card, it's now easier to redeem your rewards. For both types of cards, you can now redeem your rewards for cash with a redemption of as little as $1.
You can use 225 points to pay $1 towards any travel purchase made, or 400 points to pay $1 towards any purchase.
With cash back, once you have $1 in cash back accumulated, it can be put towards paying your bill.

Eligible TD credit cards
If you have either a TD cash back or TD Rewards credit card, you can take advantage of the lower redemption requirements.
Previously, you needed to accumulate $25 worth of rewards in order to redeem them. Now, you can redeem for as little as $1.
Here are the TD Cash Back cards that can now redeem as little as $1:
- TD Cash Back Visa Infinite Card
- TD Cash Back Visa Card
- TD Business Cash Back Visa*
Here are the TD Rewards cards that now allow you to redeem for cash sooner:
- TD First Class Travel Visa Infinite Card
- TD Platinum Travel Visa Card
- TD Rewards Visa Card
- TD Business Travel Visa* Card
To be clear, the number of points you need to make a TD Rewards redemption hasn't changed – all TD has done is lower the threshold for any travel or cash redemption. This means your points are worth the same amount, but you can use them sooner.
This also doesn't change the best way to use your points. Expedia For TD only requires 200 points to save $1 towards your travel booking.
Why TD made this change
A TD survey prompted this change. TD surveyed 1,527 Canadians, and 4 out of 5 wanted more flexible redemption options.
So this is how TD responded: by lowering the threshold for cash redemptions. For cash back cardholders, it's a definite win – you can redeem your cash back more often.
For Rewards cardholders, we would put this under the "meh" column. Sure, it's nice, but the value didn’t change – your best option is still to use your points towards travel purchases made at Expedia For TD. And when redeeming for travel, you’ll likely want to wait to redeem more than $1 at a time.
