While almost all of us still aren’t travelling at the moment, when we do, accessing an airport lounge makes for a more comfortable journey.
But, if you get access with Priority Pass or LoungeKey, a major change is on its way.

Priority Pass and LoungeKey losing access to Plaza Premium Lounges
Priority Pass and LoungeKey are losing access to Plaza Premium Lounges starting July 1, 2021.
That may not seem that bad – they only operate 120 lounges, after all. That’s only 10% of lounges lost for Priority Pass memberships.
But when you consider where these lost lounges are located, it becomes a bigger issue. In Canada, Plaza Premium operates 13 lounges.
Here’s the overview of where they are, and what lounges will be remaining in Canada that you’ll be able to access for both Priority Pass and LoungeKey.
Lounges being lost
So, here are the airports where Plaza Premium lounges operate, and how many lounges are located at each airport:
- Toronto – 6 lounges
- Winnipeg – 1 lounge
- Edmonton – 2 lounges
- Vancouver – 4 lounges
That’s a lot of lounges being lost, and some of them are irreplaceable for the time being. Of this list, Winnipeg and Edmonton will no longer have lounges you can access, and both Vancouver and Toronto are left with only one lounge in a specific area of the airport.
Note: If you have the
Priority Pass and LoungeKey lounges left in Canada
So what’s left for airport lounges in Canada that you’ll be able to use with Priority Pass and LoungeKey?
Here’s the full list.
- Montreal – National Bank Lounge (international only)
- Ottawa – Aspire Salon lounge
- Quebec City – Salon VIP lounge
- Toronto – Air France KLM Lounge (terminal 3 international)
- Calgary – 3 lounges (2 Aspire and 1 WestJet lounge, covers most of the airport)
- Vancouver – SkyTeam lounge (international only)
Outside of Calgary, there aren’t a whole lot of options left. Toronto and Vancouver especially won’t have much in the way of selection either, at least compared to what they currently have.
Hopefully, Priority Pass and LoungeKey can figure something out to get this access back.
Credit cards with increased lounge access in Canada
So for many, if your credit card comes with some free lounge passes, there will be far fewer lounges you can make use of.
If you want more access to lounges within Canada (and also happen to fly with Air Canada), there’s one card that will give you unlimited access to Maple Leaf lounges – the
As long as you’re flying with Air Canada or a Star Alliance carrier, you can access any Maple Leaf lounge (and get plenty of other Air Canada perks too).
And of course, the aforementioned
Your turn
Most of us still aren’t in travel mode, but when we do start to travel again, if you have either a Priority Pass membership or LoungeKey passes with your credit card, you’re looking at far fewer places to use them.
