One of the newest players in the Canadian credit card market is Brim Financial.
There's a lot to love about what Brim brings to the table. After all, Brim has some of the top ranked cash back credit cards you can get.
Until now, they've stuck with their 3 core credit cards, each terrific in their own right. Rather than having a bloated lineup of mediocre-to-decent credit cards, they're focused on making their credit cards the best they can be.
But now their lineup will be shaken up with a very interesting addition.

Brim Financial partnering with the Air France-KLM group
Moving away from only offering cash back credit cards, Brim will soon be partnering with the Air France-KLM group.
Not much is actually known about what the credit card is going to offer. The press release doesn't state much, other than Brim is partnering with Air France-KLM to offer a Flying Blue credit card in Canada.
Since there were no details to speak of, we reached out to Brim themselves to see if they could give us any details.
Unfortunately, the answer was no. Everything is still confidential, and they're working with Air France-KLM on the product.
The only nugget we got is they're aiming for a launch by the end of 2022.
So, now we wait. But once we hear any more details, we'll be sure to share them. And you can get this news and more delivered straight to your inbox through our newsletter (sign-up here).
A quick primer on Flying Blue
If you're new to Flying Blue, here are the basics on what this airline program has to offer.
Though it's the official program of Air France-KLM, it's also used by these other airlines:
- Transavia,
- Air Calin,
- Kenya Airways, and
- Tarom.
A big pro with Flying Blue is you can use the miles you earn with any other SkyTeam partner. If a flight on Air France or KLM isn't in your plans, you've got other options at your disposal.
Here are a few of their SkyTeam partners:
- Aeromexico,
- Delta,
- Korean Air, and
- China Airlines.
They also have partnerships with these other programs:
- Japan Airlines,
- Qantas,
- Virgin Atlantic, and
- WestJet.
And we've saved the best for last. The partner of most interest to Canadians with Flying Blue is going to be WestJet. You can use your Flying Blue miles to book flights on WestJet, which will make this credit card very attractive to Canadians.
Here's where you can learn more about what Flying Blue has to offer.
All about Brim Financial credit cards
Brim offers a very unique product in the credit card market.
They currently offer 3 credit cards. Most of the basic benefits are the same – they only differ in the amount of rewards they offer, insurance provided, and annual fees.
What benefits are the same? Here are the perks provided by all 3 cards:
- bonus rewards when shopping with Brim retail partners,
- installment plans, and
- availability on all 5 mobile wallets.
A pretty sweet set of perks.
Even when it comes to insurance, they all offer these advanced coverages:
- event ticket cancellation,
- mobile device insurance, and
- travel accident coverage.
Now here are the 2 cards and what they offer for rewards. All these cards earn points, but the way you redeem them essentially makes them cash back credit cards.
First, there's the no annual fee
Finally the granddaddy of them all – the
A feature we're hoping for with the new Air France-KLM partnership
Call this a wish if you will, but there's one thing we're hoping for here at CCG with this new partnership – for all Brim cardholders to be able to transfer points to Flying Blue.
Like Amex Membership Rewards or RBC Avion points, we're hoping that Brim allows all cardholders to transfer their Brim Rewards points to Flying Blue in some fashion.
This would make for a fantastic addition to the Brim Rewards program, and further enhance Brim's credit card lineup.
Your thoughts on the Brim x Air France-KLM partnership
It never hurts to have another credit card issuing airline miles in Canada.
In particular, we don't have any credit cards in Canada that issue points as part of the SkyTeam alliance, and can give Canadians another option when it comes to international travel.
What are your thoughts on the partnership?
