The BMO CashBack World Elite Mastercard is getting a new annual fee. Starting on June 2, 2026, the annual fee is being increased – from $120 to $139.
Is anything else changing? We don't believe so. And while it's obviously an unwelcome update, increasing annual fees is a trend other cards are moving towards.

Is $139 becoming the standard annual fee?
Slowly but surely, $139 is turning into the standard annual fee for Visa Infinite and World Elite Mastercards, at least for travel cards.
To wit:
- TD's premium cards all have $139 annual fees
- CIBC's travel cards are all at $139 now
- The WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard annual fee was recently changed to $139
Many credit cards have annual fees in the $150 range as well. And just last year, the American Express Cobalt Card saw a large $3 increase in its monthly fee.
This likely won't be the last annual fee change we see in the near future.
With that said, there are plenty of credit cards that still have an annual fee of $120. Here's a handful of popular Visa and Mastercards you can look at.
