How you earn rewards
Each card earns rewards differently. Part of choosing your card is deciding what type of rewards you want to get. With ATB World Elite Mastercard, here's how you earn rewards:
- 8 points per $1 spent on travel
- 6 points per $1 spent on groceries , gas , digital streaming services , subscriptions, and entertainment
- 2 points per $1 spent on all other purchases

How much your rewards are worth
The dollar value of your rewards depends on the specific rewards program ‒ and what you choose to redeem your points for. For ATB World Elite Mastercard in particular, if you spend $2,000 per month, here's our estimated annual rewards earned depending on which reward you choose:
| Statement credits | $324 | |
| Redeem for any travel | $324 |
Calculating your annual rewards
$24,000 annual spending x 1.35% return on spending = $324 annual rewards
$324 annual rewards − $120.00 annual fee = $204 net annual rewards

ATB World Elite Mastercard review
The cream of the crop when it comes to ATB's credit card lineup, the ATB World Elite Mastercard is the best that ATB offers.
Here's everything this credit card has to offer you.
4 benefits to the ATB World Elite Mastercard
Here's what the ATB World Elite Mastercard brings to the table.
1. High rewards on purchases, everywhere
The ATB World Elite Mastercard keeps it simple when it comes to rewards – you'll earn 8 points per $1 spent on travel, 6 points per $1 spent on groceries, gas, digital streaming services, subscriptions, and entertainment, 2 points per $1 spent on all other purchases.
Considering that these points are worth 0.5 cent each, you're getting a return of 0.75% everywhere you shop. As a Mastercard with one rate for everything, it can make for an excellent Costco credit card.
2. Amazing insurance coverage
The insurance coverage included is outstanding. A total of 15 types of insurance are included with this card.
You can see the full details above, but one standout is price protection, where you can get a refund on items you've bought if they go on sale at a later date.
3. Free airport lounge access
All World Elite Mastercards include a membership to Mastercard Travel Pass, but only a few of them include some free passes.
The ATB World Elite Mastercard is one of those cards. It includes 2 free passes to over 1,300 airport lounges worldwide.
4. Standard World Elite Mastercard benefits
All your usual World Elite Mastercard benefits are here.
2 downsides to the ATB World Elite Mastercard
Here are things to keep in mind with the ATB World Elite Mastercard.
1. Only available to residents of Alberta
ATB only operates in Alberta. And as such, their credit cards are only available to residents of Alberta.
If you live in other provinces, you'll have to look elsewhere to get your credit card fix.
2. High income requirements
We have a World Elite Mastercard on our hands, so the usual (and steep) income requirements of $80,000 personal or $150,000 household will apply here.

I keep comparing this to cards like the Cobalt, but I can't bring myself to switch to that.
This write-up needs to be revised. This card is much more valuable than advertised.
The card offers:
- 4 lounge passes, not the 2 mentioned.
- 4% back on airlines/hotels/car rentals
- 3% back on groceries (no costco/walmart), gas (incl. costco), streaming, entertainment
- 1% back on everything else
- It can pay straight cash as a statement credit
- Lots of different insurance coverages
- No annual fee if you have an ATB advantage account
- 1% cash back even at costco is better than the costco mastercard
ATB's customer service and the quality of this credit card is absolutely amazing
