MBNA True Line Gold Mastercard review
Carrying a lot of credit card debt? Looking for a credit card that gives really low interest rates?
Look no further than the MBNA True Line Gold Mastercard. It has some of the lowest interest rates you can get on a credit card.
Here's what this low interest credit card has to offer.
MBNA True Line Gold Mastercard interest rates
The MBNA True Line Gold Mastercard is a credit card dedicated to low interest rates. You won't earn any rewards on your purchases, but instead you can save big on credit card interest.
What kind of low rates can you expect to see? Here they are:
- Purchases: 10.99%
- Balance transfers: 13.99%
- Cash advances: 24.99%
For new purchases and balance transfers, the rates above are among the best rates you can get from a credit card that aren't a promotional balance transfer offer. Sadly, the cash advance rate is quite high.
If you tend to carry a balance from time to time, you can save plenty on credit card interest.

2 benefits to the MBNA True Line Gold Mastercard
On top of low interest rates, here are 2 things to like about the MBNA True Line Gold Mastercard.
1. No income requirements
Your income won't get in the way of being approved for this card. It has no income requirements, so that's one less barrier to entry.
Most low interest credit cards have some kind of income requirement, but you don't have to worry about that here.
2. An impressive 3 types of insurance included
Even though it's a basic credit card, you'll still get some pretty good insurance coverage with 3 types included.
You can see the full details by going to the insurance details above, but some highlights include all 3 types of rental car insurance and $500,000 for travel accident coverage.
2 downsides to the MBNA True Line Gold Mastercard
There's one big downside we mentioned earlier – it won't earn rewards on purchases. But that's no surprise since that's not its purpose.
However, here are 2 other things to keep in mind.
1. $39 annual fee
There is a fee to getting these low interest rates. It comes in the form of an annual fee of $39.
While it's not much, it will eat into some of the credit card interest savings you'll see.
2. No balance transfer offer
It may be a low interest credit card, but sadly it doesn't have an introductory balance transfer offer.

Only issue with this card issuer is TD which is the worst bank. It has known to lower your credit limit without any explanation even with stellar credit. Never get any credit limit increases. You will be stuck with their initial 5k limit if you are lucky to get that limit in the first place. Customer service representatives are local but very rude and arrogant. Worst than offshore agents with other banks like HSBC.
If you use this card outside of Canada TD/ MBNA lock your card you can’t use it while traveling.
That low interest on purchases meaningless if you can’t use the card.
If you carry a balance TD will cancel your card.
I’m being generous giving this garbage bank a one star.
Love the lower interest rate in casi have to run a balance for a month or two
Better then nothing I pay my monthly bill with ease. I require a card to do daily purchases.
THERE WILL BE A TRANSACTION FEE EQUAL TO 3.00% OF THE DOLLAR AMOUNT OF EACH BALANCE TRANSFER INITIATED WITH THIS APPLICATION. A MINIMUM FEE OF $7.50 WILL APPLY TO EACH BALANCE TRANSFER TRANSACTION.
in other words NOT 0% balance transfer, on this nor the non gold no annual fee version.
truth in advertising should absolutely apply.
am sure they can figure a way to make revenue but not say 0% but still charge 3%, I wanted to jump on this, at the same time, with debt load I have, 9750, add that 3% in, becomes over 10k, not to mention, it does stated multiple transfers may accour meaning, that maybe they could not / choose not to do in 1 transfer, so the number I made above can become 10k maybe even closer to 11k easy.
Would be Stellar if ANY Card company in Canada offered a "we will match the other card you have for credit limit, this becomes this cards base line limit, so we can do a 1:1 balance transfer, your first month owing (for minimum payment) will be when the new balance shows one month from completion of this transfer IN FULL...simplifying Canadian Customers Credit Card needs.
An excellent card to have!
