What are Amex Centurion Lounges?
If you haven’t yet visited a Centurion Lounge, you could soon get your wish: American Express is constantly expanding its flagship network of premium airport lounges, starting with new locations in Atlanta, Washington, and Newark.
Expect contemporary architecture, impeccable decor, and a mouth-watering selection of complimentary food and drink, including drinks from the talented Anthony Giglio.
Centurion Lounge amenities
Every Centurion Lounge in the world offers six complimentary staples:
- Concierge services at the front desk
- Dedicated, personal, and/or semi-private workspaces
- TVs and a digital library of magazines and newspapers
- Fresh, seasonal meals and local specialties prepared by award-winning chefs

- Premium drinks, and a handpicked wine selection by Anthony Giglio
Some locations also offer specialty services like luggage lockers, showers, spa treatments, and bookable conference, family, or multi-purpose rooms for an additional fee. You could even sample whiskey or wine at the odd tasting bar.
How to access an Amex Centurion Lounge
To access a Centurion Lounge, you’ll need three things: a piece of government-issued ID, a boarding pass for a same-day flight, and a qualifying premium credit card.
- American Express Platinum Card
- The Business Platinum Card from American Express
- The Centurion Card from American Express
- The Corporate Platinum Card from American Express
You can visit up to three hours before your flight departure or anytime before a connecting flight.
Unfortunately, supplementary cardholders don’t qualify for Centurion Lounge access, guest passes, or paid access.
Centurion Lounge guest policies
Besides enjoying unlimited lounge access, Canadian Platinum and Centurion credit cardholders may invite two guests per visit to join them for free. Guests must be travelling with the primary cardholder, and children under two are always free, provided you can show proof of age.
If your credit card was issued in the United States (or you have more than two travelling companions), you can purchase guest passes for $50 USD per adult and $30 USD per child.
Note that guest access policies vary internationally by location and are subject to change.
Centurion Lounge rules
Just as you would for a lounge at Toronto Pearson Airport, dress appropriately and save your smoke or vape breaks for an area outside the Centurion Lounge.
Here are six additional dos and don’ts to keep in mind.
- DO accompany children at all times
- DO keep your conduct family-friendly
- DO use headphones when watching or listening to something on screen
- DO NOT bring airport luggage carts into the lounge
- DO NOT bring outside food or drink in or out of the lounge unless medically necessary
- DO NOT sleep, lie on, or place your feet on the furniture
