The Executive Club is British Airways’ frequent flyer program and it awards members with points that are called Avios.
With Avios, not only can you fly with British Airways, but you can also fly with any of their oneworld alliance partner airlines.
Curious which oneworld alliance airlines fly into Canada?
- American Airlines,
- British Airways,
- Cathay Pacific,
- Japan Airlines,
- Qatar Airways,
- Qantas, and
- Royal Jordanian.
With these airlines, you’ll be able to fly to pretty much anywhere in the world. However, with no Canadian partners, you won’t be able to fly within Canada.
One really great benefit of Avios is that it typically requires fewer Avios to fly somewhere than Aeroplan.
Take a trip from Vancouver to Tokyo for instance – Aeroplan would require you to use 75,000 miles, but you only need 50,000 Avios to fly that same distance.
Typically, you would need 50,000 Amex Points as the transfer rate is 1:1. But, with this 30% bonus, you only need to collect 38,462 Membership Rewards points to get this flight – almost half of what a similar Aeroplan redemption would cost.
