Accuracy is important to us so this article has gone through a thorough 3-stage review process and fact-checked by our team.

The TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite Privilege Credit Card is a premium credit card that, as you would expect, comes with premium features and perks.

Not only does it look similar to its little brother, the TD® Aeroplan® Visa Infinite* Card, it also shares a reward program with it – Aeroplan.

Earning Aeroplan points on your purchases

There are 2 big differences between these cards.

The first one is the rewards. You'll earn more Aeroplan points at these rates:

  • earn 2 points for every $1 spent on eligible purchases made direct through Air Canada® purchases (including Air Canada Vacations®),
  • earn 1.5 points for every $1 spent on eligible gas, grocery, travel and dining purchases, and
  • earn 1.25 points for every $1 spent on all other purchases made with your card.

With the value of an Aeroplan point sitting at 2 cents when redeemed for flights, you'll be looking at a return on spending of roughly 2.78%.

You'll also get a welcome bonus of up to 85,000 Aeroplan points.

Not a bad way to start planning your next trip.

Perks, perks, and more perks

The other big advantage to this card, even more than the rewards and welcome bonus, is the travel perks that it comes with.

TD travel and purchase insurance

Increased insurance coverage is one. The card comes with 12 types of insurance.

You can check the full details by going to the insurance tab above.

Exclusive Air Canada perks

The perks are far increased on the Infinite Privilege version.

As a member of the upper tier of Aeroplan credit cards, you get a long list of benefits when flying with Air Canada.

Here are the major ones:

  • preferred pricing on reward flights,
  • free first checked bag,
  • annual companion voucher when you spend $25,000 annually,
  • priority check-in, boarding, and baggage handling, and
  • unlimited access to Maple Leaf lounges (can also be accessed if flying with Star Alliance partners).

These benefits are here to make your travels more enjoyable.

Visa Infinite Privilege exclusive benefits

As a Visa Infinite Privilege card, you'll need either a $150,000 personal or $200,000 household income to qualify for it, but there are a number of travel-related perks and benefits that you'll have access to through Visa Infinite Privilege.

You'll get:

  • primary cardholders get 6 complimentary worldwide select airport lounge visits annually through the Visa Airport Companion Program,
  • Visa Infinite Privilege benefits at Vancouver, Ottawa, Toronto-City, and Montreal-Trudeau airports,
  • access to the Visa Infinite Luxury Hotel Collection, and
  • complimentary 24/7 Visa Infinite Privilege concierge,

If you're a frequent traveller, this is a card you'll want in your wallet.

It comes with an annual fee of $599 for the primary cardholder and $199 for authorized users.

Looking for something a little different?

If you want valuable Aeroplan rewards and Air Canada benefits, but don't meet the $150,000/$200,000 income requirement above, the TD® Aeroplan® Visa Infinite* Card will give you one free checked bag when travelling with Air Canada.

Key benefits

  • Up to $3,000 in value including up to 85,000 Aeroplan points† and additional travel benefits could be yours. Conditions Apply.
    • Earn a welcome bonus of 20,000 Aeroplan points when you make your first purchase with your new card.
    • Earn an additional 35,000 Aeroplan points when you spend $12,000 within 180 days of Account opening.
    • Plus, earn a one-time anniversary bonus of 30,000 Aeroplan points when you spend $24,000 within 12 months of Account opening.
  • Apply for the NEXUS program membership and once every 48 months get a partial application fee rebate (up to $100 CAD).

I bank with TD and have a large mortgage, lines of credit, auto loans etc and naturally wanted a credit card with TD as Im a credit card point enthusiast as well. With a premium checking account you get a free td aeroplan infinite card. I signed up and found that TD, unlike CIBC, does not give you the 139 dollar discount on this card! Despite having a large amount of money with TD, they could not even give you 139 dollars off under any circumstance. Anyways when I signed up for the privilege card 2 years ago and found out at the time, through trying the lounge at YVR, that the card did not include guest access into the maple leaf lounge! They mislead the consumer by stating "you can even bring a guest!" without telling you straight up that you still have to pay for them. They've changed the conditions now to probably compete with AMEX (far better credit card company) to allow complimentary guest access until Dec 31, 2024 and Im assuming TD will likely can the guest benefit while AMEX will probably still have complimentary guest access. In addition, it costs way more aeroplan points for the same flights as it did 2 years ago. The point earning ratios are slow compared to the AMEX Cobalt and the customer service is subpar with the "exclusive Visa Privilege Concierge."

If you want an Aeroplan card, get the regular card with td (to get the 139 dollar discount), and get the AMEX reserve instead. I've switch back to the AMEX platinum and fly delta/westjet and get free access into the delta/ centurion lounges.

This is a very expensive card. I have attempted several transactions now for services I never received and they have NEVER reimbursed me - not once. Considering how much I spend annually, the cost do the card, and the very clear dispute for services never received I will be cancelling this card before renewal and going with AMEX….who I have used in the past and was excellent for transaction disputes.

I call this card my "Mr Big Shot Card." As of November 2018 I had earned 460,330 Aeroplan miles using this card since 2015. It's not only because of the miles that I like this card. I enjoy priority boarding, using the Business Class check-in, and the first checked in bag for free when flying Economy. Given that I make around 10 round Economy trips to Vancouver each year, the savings on the free check-in bag pays for the card. I also enjoy using the 4 Maple Leaf Lounge visits and the 6 Plaza Premium Lounge visits while flying Economy. Being fast tracked through security at the Vancouver airport is important to me too. Last, getting 12 free GoGo Wifi passes was a nice surprise given that one has to pay for GoGo Wifi even if one is flying Business Class.

I had changed from the TD visa infinite card to the infinite privilege card over a year ago. My wife has additional card which we pay for annual fees. My wife does not get the perks when travelling without me although she is an additional card holder. Such as no access to maple leaf lounge, no upgrade on flight, and must pay for her additional baggage.
