RBC Platinum Visa Review
Are you looking for a simple no fee credit card?
For some of us, fancy credit card perks and benefits are unnecessary extras that we don't really care about since we aren't planning to use them.
If that sounds like you, the RBC Visa Platinum might be a good card to consider.
This card is not only free, but it also allows cardholders to add secondary cards to their account. Plus, it also gives them 4 different types of insurance:
- Purchase Protection Insurance
- Extended Warranty
- Travel Accident Insurance
- Rental Car Theft and Damage Insurance
If you want more details, check out the Insurance Coverage tab above.
And, as part of RBC's partnership with Petro Canada, you can save an instant 3 cents per litre at the pump, and earn an additional 20% bonus Petro Points as well.

Was lately in Mexico, attempted on 2 occasions to use visa to firstly buy a return AirCan ticket home, card nor accepted..I’m in Mexico, not home, visa requesting a verification code sent to my land line?? EXCUSE ME, I’m in another country and my land line of no use!! Thankfully my Scotia bank Debit/visa, had To go online and spent time activating their Visa. Then again in an emergency situation tried again to use for $440 with Aeromexico, again would not work!! Very, very fortunately being with Scotiabank, could debit my account there.
I have 1,000’s in accounts with Royal, BUT luckily I, not somebody else in this situation not as lucky.
Also when one closes their Visa cards, RBC, the accounts remain open for deposits, nothing else! Of course visa is not part of the bank, so no concern of theirs.
I’ll be removing my GICs when mature and just leave a small checking acct there.
This could of been a very serious situation, so my rating is a ZERO.. so out of country spenders beware!
A bare bones, no gimmicks card. This is my bill paying card.
Good reliable card; I use it for online purchases.
