There are changes coming to Rogers Mastercards. In August 2026, Rogers will introduce annual earn caps on accelerated rewards across most Rogers credit cards.

It's important to note this cap applies to earning rewards, not spending. You can still spend as usual. The change only affects how much of that spending earns the higher cash back rate.

Sounds like bad news, right? Fortunately, it's not as big a deal as it may seem. The caps are high, and there’s a way to keep earning once you hit them.

Once you reach your annual earning threshold, you may qualify to move to a higher tier with a higher cap. That means many cardholders can keep earning strong rewards as their spending grows.

Rogers Mastercard options and new credit reward caps

Earn caps will apply to the following Rogers credit cards:

Rogers Red Mastercard

The Rogers Red Mastercard is a no-fee card that offers solid value for Rogers, Fido, Comwave, and Shaw customers. Eligible users can earn 2% cash back on purchases and get a 1.5 times boost when redeeming toward those services. That brings the value up to 3% on those redemptions.

Starting August 4, 2026, this card will have a $16,000 annual cap on accelerated earn rates. After that, purchases will earn 1% cash back.

However, if you reach that level of spending, you'll be in a position to move up to a higher tier with a higher cap.

Rogers Red World Mastercard

The new Rogers Red World Mastercard also has no annual fee. You can earn 2% cash back on eligible purchases if you have a qualifying Rogers service. Other users still earn 1% across the board.

This card will have a $26,000 annual cap on accelerated earn rates. After the cap is reached, purchases earn 1% cash back. But you'll likely have an opportunity to move up a tier and keep earning at an accelerated rate with your new card.

Rogers Red World Elite Mastercard

The Rogers Red World Elite Mastercard is one of the strongest no-fee cards in Canada. It offers up to 3% cash back on U.S. dollar purchases and 1.5% on other purchases, or 2% for eligible Rogers customers. It also includes six types of insurance coverage and is ranked #1 for Canada's best no-fee credit card and best credit card for shopping at Costco.

Starting in August, this card will have a $61,000 annual cap on accelerated earn rates. After that, purchases earn 1.5% cash back. This higher cap gives most users plenty of room before any lower rate applies.

Rogers Red World Legend Mastercard

The Rogers Red World Legend Mastercard is the first World Legend Mastercard in Canada.

It offers unlimited 2% cash back, no foreign exchange fees, and a $200 annual Rogers entertainment credit. It also includes six lounge passes and a wide range of insurance coverage.

There is no annual cap on this card. Cardholders can continue earning 2% cash back on all eligible purchases with no limit.

How Rogers credit card caps reset and work

All annual spend counters will reset to zero on August 4, 2026.

After that, your annual period will follow your account anniversary or product switch date. For many cardholders, these changes simply add structure to how rewards are earned.

If your spending grows, you have a clear path to move into a card that better fits your needs.

If you have the Rogers Red Mastercard, but you meet the eligibility requirements for the World or World Legend card, you should go ahead and upgrade your card now. There's no extra cost, and you'll get more benefits. Learn more about these cards and their requirements:

FAQ

What are Rogers credit card caps?

Rogers credit card caps limit how much spending earns the higher cash back rate each year. Once you reach the cap, you can still use your card, but new purchases will earn a lower base rate until your annual spending resets.

Do Rogers credit card caps limit how much I can spend?

No, there is no limit on how much you can spend with your Rogers credit card, other than your credit limit. The cap only affects how much of your spending earns the higher reward rate, not your ability to keep using your card.

When do Rogers credit card reward caps reset?

The annual spend counter resets to zero on August 4, 2026. After that, your reset date will follow your account anniversary or the date you switched card products, depending on your account history.

Can I avoid lower rewards after hitting the cap?

In many cases, yes. Once you reach your card's annual cap, you may be eligible to upgrade to a higher-tier Rogers Mastercard with a higher cap, which allows you to continue earning rewards at a stronger rate.

Will my Rogers credit card rewards rate change right away?

No, your earn rate will stay the same until you reach your card's annual cap. Once you hit that threshold, your rewards rate will drop to the base rate for the rest of the annual period, unless you upgrade to a higher-tier card.
