How much your rewards are worth

Rogers World Elite Mastercard review
The Rogers Red World Elite Mastercard is a rare no annual fee World Elite Mastercard. To boot, it also offers excellent rewards, and it's one of the best credit cards to use at Costco warehouses.
Here's why you may want this card, especially if you're a frequent Costco shopper and/or have other Rogers services.
Rogers Red World Elite Mastercard cash back rewards
The rewards are simple with the Rogers Red World Elite Mastercard. Every purchase earns you a slice back in the form of cash.
Here's what you'll earn on all your purchases:
- Earn 2% unlimited cash back on all eligible non-U.S. dollar purchases if you have 1 qualifying service with Rogers, Fido, Comwave, or Shaw
- Earn 1.5% unlimited cash back on eligible non-U.S. dollar purchases
- Earn 3% unlimited cash back on all eligible purchases made in U.S. dollars
Flat rate credit cards are a bit of a dying breed. But thankfully, Rogers is giving everyone 1.5% cash back, no matter where they shop.
And that 3% you see in the "Store" category mentioned in the How you earn rewards section? That rate only applies when you make a purchase in U.S. dollars.
You'll earn even more if you have a Rogers service of some kind, which includes Fido and Shaw. You'll earn 2% cash back on all of your eligible non-U.S. dollar purchases. Redeem your cash back towards your Rogers bill and you'll get a 1.5x redemption bonus on your cash back rewards - for a 3% cash back value. Note that this isn't available on prepaid wireless plans.
Couple this with the card's $0 annual fee and you've got one of the best credit cards for shopping at Costco.
4 benefits to the Rogers Red World Elite Mastercard
There's more to this card than rewards. Here are 4 other things to like.
1. No annual fee
It's not often you see a no annual fee World Elite Mastercard – there are only a few in Canada. And this is one of them.
It's not some chintzy card either – it offers excellent rewards and benefits compared to other no fee cards.
2. Redeem cash back on demand
Most cash back credit cards let you get your cash once per year as a statement credit.
Rogers takes a different approach. Once you have $10 accumulated, you can redeem it towards any purchases made in the last 90 days.
3. Good insurance for a no fee credit card
The insurance can't compare to a card with an annual fee, but against no fee cards, it's quite good, with 6 types included. You can see the full details in the insurance tab above.
Of particular note are the trip cancellation and interruption coverages. These types of coverage are hard to find on a no fee card.
4. World Elite Mastercard benefits
Even though it has no annual fee, you still get access to all the usual World Elite Mastercard benefits.
One of those happens to be Mastercard Travel Pass for lounge access. There's no free access, so you'll have to pay US$32 each time, but at the very least, you get the membership covered.
5. Bonus benefits for Rogers wireless customers
Have a Rogers wireless plan? You'll get 5 free roam like home days just for having this card every year. These can cost up to $18 per day, which can lead to an easy $90 in savings per year.
2 downsides to the Rogers Red World Elite Mastercard
There are 2 things you'll want to keep in mind.
1. High income requirements
The Rogers Red World Elite Mastercard is a World Elite Mastercard, and as such, there are the usual income requirements of $80,000 personal or $150,000 household to be eligible.
That can put the card out of reach for many.

If you have a Rogers service of some kind, these are very similar cards. The only real difference between the 2 of them is the included insurance and benefits you'll get from a World Elite Mastercard.
If you don't, the World Elite version will get you more rewards – provided you can meet the income requirements.

Applied for this due to the cashback % (Have a Fido account) bonus, and most importantly no fee for a WE.
Started off on a bad foot. Application was approved, but didn't receive a confirmation email or any further communication for a week leaving me to wonder if I had provide my info to a nefarious party.
Got the card in the mail a few days after. Activated it per instructions through the app, made a test transaction for duties on an incoming package. Decided to update my Fido and other payment methods as my intention was to cancel a Capital One card with no benefits at $60/year that I had for years. Was going to call Capital One to cancel, but held off in case things went south.
Decided to make a purchase through Paypal, Per-auth went through, but was declined upon trying to complete the payment. Not getting any sort of notice that the transaction being blocked, tried again same issue. Figured it might be Paypal as the card wasn't linked/confirmed. 2 attempts to do the verification failed because that declined. Decided I wait a few days and see if it was a temporary block as there was an Amazon Prime fee due. Also declined.
Decide to send a secure message via the app and call in for good measure. Was told by the agent that the account was put on security review, gave me the direct line for the security team, but was unable to answer whether I'd be able to pay the balance already on the card.
Security told me that I need to go to a Rogers store with Drivers License and Passport to verify my identity. Not willing to run around with a passport in these days just to get my credit card working, I asked for alternatives, which they provided but none of which I had. They told me to go to a "bigger" store as some might not have the software required for verification. Fearing that at some point this could happen again, I asked for confirmation it was a one time thing, they told me that it wouldn't happen a few after I did the verification, but maybe in a few years time. A few hours after the call, I got a response to the secure message asking me to call in to CS.
I paid off the balance, and will be calling in to cancel once my MBNA WE comes in. The perks are fairly attractive in the market, but Rogers just isn't a bank or has the infrastructure of one: From taking 1-5 business days for payments to show, no indication that the account was under "security" review and requiring a 20 minute interaction to determine I had to go to a store with my passport no less I rather deal with the big banks.
Honestly, given the level of customer service we've come to expect from Rogers, I anticipated a similar experience with the card. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the excellent service I received when I had to contact them. Additionally, having the card at 0% interest is a welcome bonus. This card has quickly become my go-to option and effectively covers my Rogers bill each month. I have no complaints, especially considering the economic uncertainty we are all facing.
I am a Fido user(even set auto-pay with this credit card), but getting only 1% cashback.
I called them, and was told that it'll take 2 bill cycles to get that fixed.
What a scam!
Rogers cancelled my card 12 hours before a trip to Asia due to potential fraud transaction. I understand they have processes in place to avoid fraud, but this was my ONLY credit card and I was basically forced to travel to the other side of the world with NO CREDIT CARD. This forced me to get $1000 in prepaid credit cards a few hours before my travel and convert way more $$ into other currencies than I was anticipating. I was also planning to keep a more dynamic schedule for my trip, but guess what is impossible to do when you don't have a credit card? Book flights, hotels, literally everything... I will never forgive Rogers for how they handled my situation.
Shame on me for not having multiple credit cards, I guess. This is a problem I have since rectified. I was an excellent customer for 6 years but they put me in a borderline unsafe situation because of their standard fraud processes. How was I supposed to get the replacement card when I'm on the other side of the planet? At least with Amex they will give you replacement card details online, which I found out as soon as I applied yesterday. Rogers doesn't do that for some reason. Anyway, zero stars. It was a good card, and I will still use it for USD transactions and my wireless / internet bills, but I will be using my new AMEX for everything else that I can.
Best overall financially, once it gets working. They seem to have little or no customer support. So...there's that. But, the $0 annual fee, and 2% on everything without limit. There are so many snags with the other cards out there. This one is pretty simple. Frankly, best in Canada. How many cards now have "caps", and confusing multiple categories, or 3-month sign-up bonuses. Insulting really. Only thing missing: 0% FX. This one does charge Fx fees. (A few other little perks too apparently, like a few days roaming in USA...though I can never figure out how to make that work, and travel insurance - if that really is worth anything, and a little bonus % on paying the Rogers bill. Clever idea.)
