What is Triangle Select?

If you find yourself regularly popping into Canadian Tire or frequently investing in sports equipment, you might be looking for a way to get more out of the Triangle Rewards program.

After all, you'll only earn 0.4% back in CT Money with the free Triangle Rewards membership.

Canadian Tire rewards you with 20x bonus CT Money at the end of your membership year on your largest eligible in-store purchase. The purchase can be made with any participating retailer, not just CT.

Unfortunately, you won't get increased earn rates for Petro-Canada fuel purchases.

How to sign up for Triangle Select

To sign up for Triangle Select, you first need a regular Triangle Rewards account.

If you already have an account or have set one up, head to the Triangle Select site and click "Join Triangle Select" (there are several buttons on the page).

You'll then need to sign in to your Triangle account – you may have to click on "Join Triangle Select" again after logging in.

You can then choose your welcome gift. At the time of writing, these are the options:

• $50 Canadian Tire gift card you can redeem in-store
• $50 SportChek e-promo card you can redeem on footwear in-store or online
• $50 Mark's e-promo card you can redeem on denim in-store or online

Once you've picked your gift, enter your credit card info if there isn't a card stored in your account, and complete the registration. Remember, CT needs your credit card details to charge you the annual fee.

How to earn with Triangle Select

Once you've signed up for a subscription, it's easy to earn more CT rewards. Within 30 minutes of registering, you should receive a welcome email confirming your membership. Then, you can start stacking your rewards on eligible purchases.

Earn 10x the rewards when shopping in-store

Shop in-store, and right away, you'll earn 10x the Canadian Tire Money on your purchases, on top of your usual base earn rate of 0.4% back. Right off the bat, that's a substantial increase in rewards.

It's important to note that your purchases must be in-store. Online purchases won't count, nor will ordering online and picking up in person. In short, the transaction must occur at a physical store.

Earn 20x the rewards on select brands

When you're purchasing certain brands in-store, you'll earn 20x the rewards on your purchase.

Here are the brands:

These are largely either brands owned by Canadian Tire (like Mastercraft) or only available there (like Simoniz).

This is an obvious play by Canadian Tire to get you to purchase their own products over someone else's. But if they have something you want, that's even more rewards for you.

20x the annual in-store top-up

Finally, at the end of your membership year, Triangle Rewards will look back at all of your in-store purchases in the last year.

On your largest purchase, Triangle Rewards will give you a 20x rewards bonus. This alone can pay for a significant chunk (if not all) of your membership fee.

Online shopping perks

Although there are no bonus rewards when shopping online, there are some perks.

Canadian Tire doesn't typically offer free shipping to your home. But with a Select membership, you can be reimbursed in CT Money for the shipping fees on your first 5 Canadian Tire ship-to-home purchases. There is a cap of $12 back in shipping fees per order.

If you're shopping online with Sport Chek, Mark's, or L'Équipeur, the shipping fee is waived on all purchases over $50 (instead of the usual $99 minimum). Up to $20 in shipping fees is waived per order.

We want to mention your Canadian Tire credit card options, even though you don't get a special reward rate for being a Triangle Select member.
