Your rewards

How much your rewards are worth
The dollar value of your rewards depends on the specific rewards program ‒ and what you choose to redeem your points for. For Triangle Mastercard in particular, if you spend $2,000 per month, here's our estimated annual rewards earned depending on which reward you choose:
| Triangle Rewards stores | $196 |
Calculating your annual rewards
$24,000 annual spending x 0.82% return on spending = $196 annual rewards
$196 annual rewards − $0.00 annual fee = $196 net annual rewards

Our review
Gone are the days of piles of Canadian Tire money scattered all over our houses.
Now Canadian Tire Money is all digital – but if you do a lot of shopping at Canadian Tire, those Canadian Tire dollars are still as valuable as ever.
And the Triangle Mastercard could definitely be valuable as well. Here's what this card has to offer.
Canadian Tire Triangle Mastercard Rewards
With the Canadian Tire Triangle Mastercard, you'll be earning Canadian Tire Money on all your purchases.
Here's what you'll earn:
- 4% CT Money at Canadian Tire stores
- 1.5% CT Money at grocery stores
- 0.5% CT Money everywhere you shop
- Collect 5 cents CT Money per litre at Gas+ and Husky stations
That 4% return at Canadian Tire stores seems pretty sweet, but it's a little misleading for 2 reasons:
- this amount is only earned on the pre-tax amount (other credit card rewards are calculated on the total transaction amount), and
- this includes what you would normally be earning as a regular Triangle member.
To compare it to other credit cards, the actual return is really 3.19%, if you take an average sales tax in Canada at 13%. It's still really good, but not quite what they're advertising.
Redeeming your Canadian Tire money
It's simple when you go to redeem your CT Money.
At the register at any Canadian Tire, simply ask to use your rewards balance after scanning your Mastercard. There's no minimum redemption, you can redeem as little as 1 cent in rewards.
2 benefits to the Triangle Mastercard
On top of rewards, here are 2 other things to like about the Triangle Mastercard.
1. No fee financing at Canadian Tire
Making a purchase of $150 or more at any Canadian Tire store? You can get access to no fee, no interest financing.
At the register, and after scanning your credit card, you'll be asked if you want to finance your purchase.
If you do, your purchase will be spread out over 24 months, and your credit card will see an equal payment every month.
Be aware though, make sure to pay your bill on time. If you don't, you'll start to pay the card's regular interest rate on your purchase.
2. No annual fee or income requirements
Canadian Tire makes it easy to carry this card in your wallet.
First, there's no annual fee, so there's no cost to keep it in your wallet.
There are also no income requirements to worry about, which is one less barrier to entry.
2 downsides to the Triangle Mastercard
On the other hand, here are 2 things to think about.
1. Poor rewards at most other stores
The Canadian Tire rewards are quite good, even if they are misleading.
But the base earn rate doesn't make it well suited for shopping everywhere else.
Below, we'll go over credit cards you can pair with your Canadian Tire credit card to boost your rewards.
2. No insurance coverage
There is no included credit card insurance. Most no annual fee credit cards at least have the basics like purchase protection and extended warranty coverage.
Companion credit cards to the Triangle Mastercard
If you're a frequent shopper at Canadian Tire, you have a decent card in your hands. But it needs improvement on just about all your other shopping.
Here are 2 different no-annual-fee credit cards you can take a look at.
One offers a high base earn rate on everything, and the other lets you choose which categories earn you 2% back.
| Amex SimplyCash | Tangerine Money-Back Credit Card | |
|---|---|---|
| Welcome Bonus | 5% cash back for the first 3 months (terms) | |
| Earn Rate | * 2% cash back on gas * 2% cash back on groceries (up to $300 cash back annually) * 1.25% cash back on all other purchases | * 2% cash back on purchases in up to 3 Money-Back Categories * 0.5% cash back on all other purchases |

| Other Features | * Amex Offers * Front Of The Line | * Ability to choose your 2% categories and change them as required |
| Learn More | SimplyCash Card from American Express | Tangerine Money-Back Credit Card |
Both of these cards offer plenty of cash back. It's a matter of whether you want to earn more rewards on a variety of categories or boost that base earn rate.
No matter which one you pick, you're bound to get a sweet complementary credit card.

If this is not the only credit card can pay the tax and utilities, I will cancel it right away. Maybe I should at the end as it's not much points anyways....
I called the customer services and worse customer service ever. They just want your money and do not care what you say. Compare with other credit card customer services, they are the worse.
I got approved fast and easy, had to go to my local Canadian tire to verify myself, got a credit limit of $200, been using my card constantly and adding money over and over, they haven't offered Me a limit increase yet, it's been 8 months now.
If I could give a negative review, I would. This is my first time to leave a review for any credit card. The CT agent approached me in the store to sign up for this card which I did not knowing that the address she put in the form was wrong. I never receive my card. Spoke to another agent on the phone because I wanted to pay off any transaction on the card, they are not able to assist me because I am not able to verify my address. Told me to go to the store which I did but the CT customer service is not able to assist me because I don't have my card number.
I've had the basic card for 7 years, not a single issue yet. I use it for everything from groceries to paying bills. It doesn't take long to reach a few hundred in CT money. For a store card, it's a good one - as yet.
Love the card. Great credit limit and easy to use. Never have had a problem.
