Rogers Mastercard rewards changes
The biggest changes to Rogers Mastercards are updates to how you earn and redeem cash back.
Earning 50% bonus cash back on Rogers redemptions
We'll start with the biggest update.
Currently, if you redeem your cash back towards an eligible Rogers service charged to your card, you'll get 50% bonus cash back towards your redemption. For example, if you have a $30 phone bill to pay and you use your cash back, you only need to redeem $20 in cash back to pay for it – your 50% bonus covers that last $10.
This benefit will disappear on November 18, 2026.
New rewards earn rate
In exchange for the redemption bonus, Rogers is rolling out new earn rates for Rogers services.
The details are scarce right now, but Rogers is advertising that you'll earn "up to 5% on eligible Rogers services."
Rogers hasn't yet released a list of eligible services and how much you earn for each one, but we'll update this article once this information is available.
What's staying the same
The regular earn rates of these cards aren't changing.
For all Rogers cards, that means you'll earn 2% cash back on all purchases if you have an eligible Rogers, Fido, Shaw, or Comwave service.
World Elite and World Legend cardholders get 3% cash back on any purchases made in USD.
All these cards also earn 1% bonus cash back at any Rogers Red Partner location.
Here's a full breakdown:
| Rogers Bank Card | Earn Rates |
|---|---|
| Rogers Red Mastercard | * Earn 2% cash back on all eligible purchases made in U.S. dollars * Otherwise, earn 1% cash back on eligible non-U.S. dollar purchases |
| Rogers Red World Mastercard | * Earn 1% cash back on eligible non-U.S. dollar purchases * Earn 2% cash back on all eligible purchases made in U.S. dollars |
| Rogers Red World Elite Mastercard | * Earn 3% cash back on all eligible purchases made in U.S. dollars * Otherwise, earn 1.5% cash back on eligible non-U.S. dollar purchases |
| Rogers Red World Legend Mastercard | * Earn 1.5% cash back on eligible non-U.S. dollar purchases
* Earn 3% cash back on all eligible purchases made in U.S. dollars |
Roam Like Home updates
If you have Rogers wireless service, you can also expect updates to how your free Roam Like Home days work.
Roam Like Home lets you use your mobile phone plan internationally. You can access data, talk, and text in 185+ destinations.
Right now, all Rogers credit cards include 5 free Roam Like Home days per year, except the Rogers Red World Legend Mastercard, which offers 10 free days.
Starting January 12, 2027, you'll receive annual free credits instead of free days. Here's how much credit you get for each Rogers credit card:
| Rogers Bank Card | Roaming Credit |
|---|---|
| Rogers Red Mastercard | $25 |
| Rogers Red World Mastercard | $50 |
| Rogers Red World Elite Mastercard | $75 |
| Rogers Red World Legend Mastercard | $200 |
These credits can be applied toward "eligible roaming services." The details of eligibility have yet to be released, but this update may mean you can stretch your free data further.
If it turns out that you can use your credits towards Rogers' Travel Passes, you may be able to get similar or higher value out of this benefit.
If you have a Rogers Red World Mastercard, you could use your $50 credit to cover 7 days of U.S. coverage, buying you 2 extra days. Or, your Rogers Red World Elite Mastercard $75 credit could go towards 7 days of international coverage.
A Rogers Red World Legend Mastercard cardholder going on a 10-day Caribbean cruise could put $140 towards coverage of Mexico, the U.S., and 30+ Caribbean islands, and still have $60 left over.
But remember, that's if Rogers deems these packages eligible.
However, if you like to use your Roam Like Home days one at a time, your value could be going way down.
If Roam Like Home days are an eligible service, your credits won't take you very far.
Roam Like Home costs $16/day in the U.S. and $18/day in other countries. So the best you can do is 4 days in the U.S. with the Rogers Red World Legend Mastercard. Rogers Red Mastercard cardholders can only cover a single free day in full.
Whether this change is good or bad all depends on which services are eligible and how you currently cash in on these free days.
Updated insurance for the Rogers Red World Elite Mastercard
Rogers is also updating the insurance package for the Rogers Red World Elite Mastercard.
The good news: emergency medical coverage is going up. You'll be covered for 15 days under the new policy as opposed to 10 days.
However, the following coverages are being dropped:
- Trip cancellation
- Trip interruption
- Flight delay
Alternative no annual fee cash back credit cards
If these changes leave you looking for a new no-annual-fee cash back card, here are some alternatives.
But if you have an eligible Rogers service, you likely want to keep paying for it with Rogers Red. It's hard to beat 2% cash back on this spend – and depending on your service, this earn rate may go up to 5%.
