It hasn’t been a good year for Air Miles (and that might be putting it mildly).
As if Sobeys wasn’t enough, yet another regional partner is deciding to say goodbye.

Jean Coutu saying goodbye to Air Miles in 2023
Jean Coutu pharmacies are joining a long list of partners saying goodbye to Air Miles.
The exact date isn’t known, but they’re aiming to depart the Air Miles program in spring 2023.
In its place, Jean Coutu pharmacies will be joining the metro&moi program, which will simply be changed to moi.
We can file this one under “we should have seen this coming”, as Jean Coutu pharmacies are owned by Metro and Metro operates their own rewards program.
Jean Coutu is a somewhat smaller partner, and they operate pharmacies in Eastern Ontario, Quebec, and New Brunswick.
But still, it’s another blow to Air Miles.
What’s left for Air Miles?
In terms of major sponsors, there’s only a few left.
What major coast to coast retailers are left?
Shell is still here, providing miles on gas from coast to coast in Canada.
To be honest, that’s the only one this author could come up with on the top of his head. There are plenty of other regional retailers like Irving and Kent for those who live in Atlantic Canada for instance.
There are also smaller retailers like Global Pet Foods, Fountain Tire, and Jiffy Lube to earn Air Miles.
And of course, there are still BMO and Amex Air Miles cards to earn miles anywhere you shop.
But sadly, I think the days of piling up Air Miles for most people are gone. And honestly, we believe it’s only a matter of time before Shell walks away and does something else (join the Scene+ program perhaps?).
