National Bank World Elite Mastercard rewards: More than $350 a year in reward points
One of the most important features of a credit card is its rewards – and the National Bank World Elite Mastercard doesn’t disappoint.
This premium rewards credit card earns you rewards on a tiered basis, based on your annual spending. Here’s how it works out:
- $0 – $40,000: 1.5 points per $1 spent
- $40,001 – $80,000: 2 points per $1 spent
- $80,001 and more: 1.5 points per $1 spent3
If you charge $2,500 a month, that’s 45,000 points you’ll earn every year. Since your points are worth 0.8 cents each when redeemed for gift cards – that’s a value of $360.
(($2,500 a month x 12 months) x 1.5 points per $1) x $0.008 per point = $360
Want to see even more value for your points? You can redeem them for travel through the À la carte rewards travel agency, where each point is worth 1 cent each. That gives your points a total value of $450.
(($2,500 a month x 12 months) x 1.5 points per $1) x $0.01 per point = $450
What can you do with your À la carte RewardsTM
But gift cards and travel aren’t the only way you can redeem your À la carte rewards. As a flexible rewards program, you have 5 different ways to redeem:
- Travel through National Bank À la carte TravelTM agency
- Pay for travel expenses
- Invest in a National Bank financial product
- Merchandise or gift cards
- Make a payment on your credit card
This way, even if you don’t have any travel plans on the horizon, you still have plenty of options for getting value out of your rewards.
National Bank World Elite Mastercard perks: $450 a year
On top of rewards, credit card perks can take a card to the next level.
The National Bank World Elite Mastercard has 2 main perks that provides heaps of value to cardholders.
$250 refund on travel extras
First, you can get up to $250 in travel extras refunded every year.
Here’s what’s included and their annual maximums:
- Airport parking fees: Up to $100

These are all fees no one likes to pay, so it’s nice to get a break from them with this card.
Unlimited access to the National Bank Lounge
And when you visit the Montreal-Trudeau Airport for a trip outside of Canada, you’ll get unlimited access to National Bank Lounge for you, a guest, and 2 kids under the age of 12. This will give you a quiet place away from the rest of the airport, with drinks, snacks, and Wi-Fi included.
If you take advantage of this airport lounge access twice a year with a guest, that’s a $200 value.
Total value of the National Bank World Elite Mastercard: $800 a year
All together, that’s an easy $800 value:
$350 in reward points + $250 in travel refunds + $200 in lounge access = $800 value
Visit the lounge more often and maximize your rewards better by redeeming for travel – and you’ll get more than an $800 value out of the card every year.

The amount was calculated as follows: $30,000 in expenses per year equalling 45,000 reward points, which is equivalent to more than $350 in electronic gift cards ($100 for every 12,500 points) or travel discounts ($100 for every 12,000 points), $250 refund on travel fees and two visits to the Lounge with a guest ($48.29 plus taxes per person). Certain eligibility conditions apply. The potential benefit amount varies depending on the annual expenses charged to the account and the number of visits to the National Bank Lounge.
