Rogers has launched their own point of sale (POS) terminals, simply called the Rogers POS. Powered by Clover, this new system is another option for business owners to allow customers to make payments.

Right now, one of the go-to POS options for many small businesses is Square. Rogers' new tool is coming in strong as a Square competitor, providing a Canadian payment option with lower fees.

If you're a Rogers Mastercard holder, there's a bonus for you – you'll earn 1% bonus cash back on any purchases made using the Rogers POS. This is a limited-time offer, but there's no end date yet in sight.

New Rogers POS system

The new Rogers POS system is not just for Rogers credit cards. This system works for all credit cards – Visa, Mastercard, and American Express cards can all use the Rogers POS – so can debit cards.

These pay terminals have a very distinctive look – they're Rogers' signature shade of red. This reinforcement of Rogers' brand may help Rogers' cardholders spot opportunities to take advantage of the 1% bonus while it lasts.

The bonus is simple. Rogers cardholders get an extra 1% cash back when paying at a Rogers terminal. This is a limited-time offer available while Rogers gets this new system into the hands of more businesses.

According to Rogers, there are already 34 merchants who are set up to use Rogers POS. However, there are rumoured to be thousands in the pipeline, so we expect this number to grow.

Rogers is also set to launch the Rogers POS in stadiums and arenas. While nothing is confirmed, we expect to see terminals at the following Rogers-owned and Rogers-sponsored locations:

  • Rogers Centre (Toronto) – owned by Rogers
  • Rogers Place (Edmonton) – Rogers naming rights
  • Rogers Arena (Vancouver) – Rogers naming rights

We could also see the Rogers POS at Toronto's Scotiabank Arena, since Rogers owns both the Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Raptors.

Rogers Red Partner network

With the launch of the Rogers Red POS comes a program called Rogers Red Partner. In a recent press release, Rogers shared their intent to help small and medium sized businesses lower their payment fees.

The POS is at the centre of the Red Partner program. Rogers plans to release map of all the local businesses using the Rogers Red POS, driving more foottraffic from Rogers cardholders.

Rogers will also offer Red Partners discounts for Rogers Sports & Media advertising.

Rogers Mastercards

Rogers offers an assortment of cards – from a basic no-fee cards, to one of Canada's only no-fee World Elite Mastercards, to the first World Legend Mastercard in the country.
