Earn up to 100,000 HSBC Rewards points with the HSBC World Elite Mastercard

The current offer for the HSBC World Elite Mastercard is coming to an end.

This offer is hot – you can earn up to 100,000 bonus points, worth up to $500.

However, it’s a bit of a complicated offer. Here’s how to earn all 100,000 points:

  • 20,000 points after your first purchase,
  • 50,000 points when you spend $6,000 in the first 180 days,
  • 20,000 points when you renew your account for a 2nd year, and
  • 10,000 points if you add an authorized user.

On top of that, the $149 annual fee is rebated for the first year.

And there’s one more kicker – we have a GeniusCash offer of $100 when you get approved using our link. Our GeniusCash offer ends April 30, 2022.

Add everything up and you’re looking at $749 in rewards/savings when you apply by April 4th.

All about the HSBC World Elite Mastercard

Beyond the enormous welcome offer, what else do you get with the HSBC World Elite Mastercard?

First, here’s what you’ll earn for rewards on all your purchases:

  • 6 points per $1 spent on travel, and
  • 3 points per $1 spent on everything else.

Each HSBC Rewards point is worth up to 0.5 cents each, for a return of 3% on your travel purchases, and 1.5% everywhere else.

On top of that are the premium benefits you’ll receive. The biggest one is the $100 annual travel enhancement credit. Every year, you can get reimbursed up to $100 for checked bag fees, airport lounge access, and airline seat upgrades.

It’s also a rare credit card that charges no foreign exchange fees, saving you the typical 2.5% fee most credit cards charge on purchases made in foreign currency.

Here are a few more extras that are included:

  • 10% off select hotels booked through HSBC’s Expedia and Agoda portals,
  • Mastercard Airport Experiences membership (no free passes), and
  • 11 types of insurance coverage.

If you’re planning on doing some travelling outside the country, this is an excellent, well-rounded travel credit card package.

Your turn

HSBC is running a pretty sweet welcome bonus and if you act now (before April 4, 2022), you can take advantage of everything it has to offer.

The run-around to get this card was incredible! And when I was asked to go to a branch to confirm information, I realized not only that there is no branch within miles of my home, but also how impossible it is to get through to any real human on the help line. I will stick with the cards that I have, welcome bonus or not. HSBC certainly did not gain me as a customer.

Hey Gregory, Sorry to hear about your poor experience with HSBC! It's quite common for applicants to be called to a branch during an application, so your nearest branch location is definitely something to take note of when applying. Hope your other cards are working well!
