Earning Scene+ points at Cineplex theatres has officially changed. And in short, you'll be earning fewer points.
Previously, you could earn 5 points per $1 spent at Cineplex. Now, with a few exceptions, you'll only be earning 3 points per $1 spent.

Changes to earning Scene+ points at Cineplex
The general rule moving forward is that all purchases earn 3 points per $1 spent, with the exception of premium movies, where you'll earn 6 points per $1 spent.
Let's say you spend $50 on regular movie tickets, drinks, and popcorn for 2 people. This used to net you 250 Scene+ points, but will now earn only 150 points. This difference adds up over time.

More Scene+ points for premium tickets
Overall, this program change will result in fewer points earned – unless you're a frequent buyer of premium tickets. The following ticket types qualify to earn 6 points per $1 spent, whether you buy them at the theatre or online:
- IMAX – large screens and immersive audio
- VIP – adult-only with dinner and cocktails
- RealD 3D – films with 3D glasses
- UltraAVX – leather seats and surround Dolby sound
- 4DX – special effects like fog, motion, and mist
- DBOX – haptic seats with intensity controls
- ScreenX – 270-degree panoramic screen
- Clubhouse – includes a kids' play area in the theatre
- Event Cinema – showings of sporting or arts events
Earn more points with a Scene+ credit card
Nothing is changing with Scene+ credit cards when it comes to earning points at Cineplex.
