New health and wellness rewards
The BMO eclipse Visa Infinite Privilege* Card's rewards are mostly staying the same, but there is one change to the bonus categories. Instead of earning 5x the points at drugstores, you'll earn 5x the points on health and wellness.*
This is the first time we've seen a bonus category for health and wellness. So what does it cover? You'll get 5x the points at these places:
- Massage parlors
- Health and beauty spas
- Golf courses
- Club memberships (athletic, recreation, sports)
- Recreation services (including gyms)
Keep in mind that there are annual caps on this new health and wellness category, just like the caps BMO already has in place for the other 5x categories.
After your spend reaches the cap for each category, you'll only earn 1 point per $1 in that category for the rest of the year.*
- Travel: $25,000
- Dining: $25,000
- Gas: $15,000
- Groceries: $20,000
- Health and wellness: $15,000
More airport lounge access
The BMO eclipse Visa Infinite Privilege* Card's airport lounge access is getting better.
Previously, the card included 6 free passes to Visa Airport Companion lounges. As part of the changes, that number has increased to 10.
Most Visa Infinite Privilege cards come with a Visa Airport Companion membership and 6 passes, so increasing the number of passes to 10* boosts this card above its competition. It's now tied with the Scotiabank Passport® Visa Infinite Privilege* Card for most Priority Passes available on a VIP card.
Annual travel credit makeover
The annual credit that is included with the card isn't going away, but how you receive it is.
Previously, the $200 lifestyle credit was applied to your first purchase that is $200 or more.
Moving forward, this will be a travel credit. And while the amount remains the same at $200, it will be applied to your first travel purchase of $500 or more.*
This makes the credit a little less flexible, but as long as you make a qualifying travel purchase every year, the value you get from the card won't change. Frequent flyers are unlikely to notice a difference.
No foreign transaction fees
This is probably the biggest change. Starting November 2, the BMO eclipse Visa Infinite Privilege* Card will no longer charge foreign transaction fees. That means this card will save 2.5% on any purchase that isn't in Canadian dollars.
