Laurentian Bank credit cardholders are officially becoming customers of National Bank – but not just yet.
As part of a larger transaction expected to close on November 1, 2026, National Bank will acquire Laurentian Bank's retail and small and medium-sized business (SME) portfolios, including credit cards, accounts, mortgages, loans, investments, and banking services.
Most Laurentian retail and SME products are expected to migrate to National Bank by late 2026, but credit cards will likely take a bit longer.

Your Laurentian Bank Visa stays the same for now
If you have a Laurentian Bank Visa, there's nothing you need to change yet.
Your card, interest rate, rewards program, insurance coverage, online banking, and other terms and conditions will remain unchanged until the card is officially transferred to National Bank.
Credit card migration is expected to happen in the coming months, with customers receiving several weeks' notice before the switch. Your card will also continue working normally during the migration weekend when Laurentian's other retail banking products move to National Bank.
Laurentian Bank currently offers 4 Visa credit cards, the Laurentian Bank Visa Reward Me, Laurentian Bank Visa Infinite, Laurentian Bank Visa Cashback, and Laurentian Bank Visa Reduced Rate. Details on how this deal may impact these individual cards long-term have not yet been announced.
What else is changing at Laurentian Bank?
The deal itself has 2 parts.
National Bank is acquiring Laurentian's retail, small/medium enterprise, credit card, and syndicated loan portfolios.
Separately, Fairstone Bank is acquiring Laurentian Bank itself, including its commercial real estate financing, Northpoint Commercial Finance, B2B Bank, and capital market operations. Laurentian Bank will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Fairstone while keeping its name at its Montreal head office.
For everyday banking customers, though, National Bank is where most of the visible changes will happen.
