Save up to 25% on Aeroplan flights
The first Aeroplan offer right now is for savings on flights. Book by September 29, 2023, and you can save on Aeroplan flights within Canada, to the U.S., and to sun destinations until March 31, 2023.
Now, there's no way to really tell how much of a discount you're getting. As an example, here are some flights between Montreal and San Francisco.
For these flights, the cheapest options fall within the likely range of points needed for this one way flight (here's a link to the points predictor tool.)
And when we checked the value of an Aeroplan point for the cheapest option shown, it cost $367, which puts each point at about 1.9 cents each, in line with our average value, and above our value for U.S. flights.
Air Canada has this page dedicated to its sale, and showing deals people have gotten. But we checked some of these against the tool and they're all still within the likely range.
We don't doubt that Air Canada is offering a sale and is reducing the number of points required on a flight, but there's no way of telling what kind of deal you're getting other than your maximum savings of 25% (unless you've recently been looking at flights, then you may see they dropped in price).
Save on Aeroplan hotel bookings
Have an Aeroplan-branded credit card? There's a special offer for you to save on hotels booked with Aeroplan points that ends at the end of the year.
We generally don't collect Aeroplan points for free hotel nights, it's the flights we're after. So let's see if this deal can change that. And we'll head to the Big Apple for our example as shown in the ad.
To book your hotel, make sure you go here, where you'll first be prompted to sign in. I first started on the main Air Canada site and I was redirected to Air Canada Vacations for booking a hotel and this deal was not there.
Here's a basic Holiday Inn Express in Times Square, and what it costs for points.
And here's what a room actually costs in U.S. dollars.
Converting to Canadian dollars and we get $2,256.
That works out to 1.44 cents per point. As good as the flight we showed above? No, but it still has decent value.
This deal is at least worth checking out if you have a hotel stay of at least 4 nights coming up.
To get this deal, you'll need an Aeroplan-branded credit card to get it. These cards are issued by Amex, TD, and CIBC. Here's a listing of the personal cards that qualify. And if you don't have one right now, you'll be able to get this deal if you get one during the offer period.
