Scotiabank is known for their “you’re richer than you think” slogan – and I think they succeeded in creating some of the richest cash back focused bank accounts and credit cards on the market.

Their “Momentum” line of credit cards is famous, especially the Scotiabank Momentum Visa Infinite which gives a whopping 4% cash back on gas and grocery purchases. No other card comes close to that.

Scotiabank was also the first Canadian bank to issue an American Express credit card. Normally Amex sticks to issuing their own credit cards, but Scotiabank welcomed them into their fold, linked them up to their excellent Scotia Rewards program, and produced some really top-notch rewards credit cards, especially for travel.

The Scotiabank Gold American Express in particular gives 4x the points for gas, grocery, restaurant, and entertainment purchases and 1 point per $1 spent on everything else.

The GM Visa credit cards are also worth mentioning if you have any interest at all in purchasing a new GM vehicle sometime in the future.

Both the no-fee and and premium GM cards offer an insane 5% rewards on your first $5,000 to $10,000 in spending annually. No other card can match that high earn rate and the card really can’t be beat for low spenders who are going to be buying a new vehicle anyway.

The creditcardGenius algorithm calculates an estimated dollar value for all rewards and bonuses by using a typical point value a person can realistically achieve by redeeming their rewards in a reasonably optimized way. The "Welcome Bonus" is the dollar value obtained by combining of all one-time bonuses available to new cardholders within the first year. To qualify for the full bonus you may need to make purchases, meet minimum spending requirements, or complete special actions. Terms and conditions apply.
