Fact Checked
Fact Checked
Accuracy is important to us so this article has gone through a thorough 3-stage review process and fact-checked by our team.

The PC World Elite Mastercard offers the best of the best when it comes to PC Financial's no-fee Mastercards. You'll earn the most points at PC stores and get a little bit of travel insurance.

And of course, it's also a rare no-annual-fee World Elite. A big reminder – like other PC Mastercards, you only earn bonus rewards at partner stores.

Earning PC Optimum points

PC Optimum points are pretty easy to redeem. Go into any Loblaws store (including Shoppers Drug Mart) and at the register, use your PC points to help pay for your purchase. You can redeem 10,000 points for $10, and you have to redeem increments of 10,000 points.

You can also use your points in 2 other ways – at Esso stations and to pay your credit card balance.

At Esso stations, you have two ways to use points:

  • Discount on fuel
  • Free car washes

Car washes are actually the best way to use your PC points. 10,000 points will get you a free car wash of your choosing. Get a primo car wash, which can be upwards of $15, and you've boosted your savings by 50% over using your points in-store. With that said, there's a realistic limit as to how many car washes anyone needs.

As for fuel discounts, 4,000 points will save you 10 cents per litre, to a maximum of 40 litres – the same value as groceries.

Finally, you can turn them into a statement credit. 10,000 points will only pay $7 on your credit card statement. But you still have to make your minimum payment in cash – points won't cover it.

Here's a summary of what your PC points are worth for each option.

Pros to the PC World Elite Mastercard

There's plenty to love about the PC World Elite Mastercard.

1. No annual fee

It may be a World Elite Mastercard, but it still doesn't have an annual fee. It's a rare World Elite Mastercard without one.

2. World Elite Mastercard benefits

Even though it has no fee, it still has all the typical benefits you get from a World Elite Mastercard. From Priceless events to a Mastercard Travel Pass membership (no free passes), they're all here.

3. Includes some travel insurance

It won't compare to what a regular World Elite card would provide, but for a no-fee card, you'll get 4 types of insurance included.

Cons to the PC World Elite Mastercard

Here are a pair of things to keep in mind:

1. High income requirements

There are high income requirements of either $80,000 personal or $150,000 household to meet. It's typical of World Elite Mastercards, but it's a barrier to entry.

2. No special perks

Even though it's a World Elite Mastercard, there aren't any special perks to having it beyond extra rewards and World Elite Mastercard benefits.

Alternatives to the PC World Elite Mastercard

Want some alternatives to consider? Here are a few top Visa Infinite/World Elite Mastercards to consider. While they all have annual fees, they also earn more rewards on groceries, at any grocery store, not just Loblaws stores.
