On October 1, there will be a shakeup to the World Elite Mastercard benefits. Cardholders will lose access to free Boingo WiFi (which was very upsetting to one of our team members!) but in its place will be 2 new benefits: free data roaming from FlexiRoam and discounted tax preparation at H&R Block.
Here's what we know.

Free Boingo WiFi is no more
First, the loss. World and World Elite Mastercards will no longer include free Boingo WiFi as of October 1, 2024.
Depending on who you are, it's either a big loss or nothing to worry about. Case in point: the CCG team. While I’ve never used it, another team member uses it to access free WiFi when she flies with WestJet.
2 new World Elite Mastercard benefits
Details are lacking at this time, but here’s what we know about the new benefits coming to World Elite Mastercards.
Free FlexiRoam data
With FlexiRoam, you'll get three 1 GB global data roaming plans for free. Instead of searching for a Boingo hotspot, simply load a new eSIM card on your phone and you'll enjoy free data while abroad.
While this won’t replace everything (e.g., free Boingo WiFi on WestJet), it will certainly be more convenient than searching for a Boingo hotspot while traveling.
Once this is available, we'll include a guide on how to get access to this feature.

H&R Block discount
This benefit is quite simple: file your taxes through H&R Block and you'll get 30% off the price. We don't have the full details but this benefit should be easy to access.
We'll update this post as we learn more about the new benefits and how they work.
