Rogers has recently updated its offering on the Rogers Red Mastercard, catapulting its earn rates to new levels by increasing its return on Rogers redemptions from 30% to 50%. This makes it a major contender for several categories for the best credit cards in Canada.
It was already a very good card, but with this small change, it became a stellar option, especially if you're a Rogers customer.

You can get 3% back on every purchase you make
For a no fee card, the Rogers Red Mastercard has gone from pretty cool to amazing. Previously, one of the best things about the card was how you could redeem your cash back on Rogers, Fido, or Shaw purchases. In these cases, you could get 30% more in bonus value that way.
But here's where things got interesting – Rogers just increased it to be 50% the original redemption.
Remember, if you have this card and have at least one qualifying service with Rogers, Fido, or Shaw, you'll get 2% cash back on everything you buy.
So do the math – 1.5x more times 2% gives you a return of 3% of everything if you redeem it on:
- phone bills,
- new phones, or
- accessories.
Just note that the redemptions need to be made in the Rogers Bank app.
Other reasons you'll like the Rogers Red Mastercard
Through and through, this is an excellent card to consider having if you're a customer of the aforementioned brands. But other than the unbeatable earn rates, you're also in store for some other excellent perks.
Firstly, you'll start off with a welcome bonus of No welcome bonus at this time. Of course, with customer status, this essentially works out to $150 in value.
If you do a lot of cross-border shopping, you can also earn 2% back on purchases made in U.S. dollars, which helps cover the 2.5% foreign transaction fees most credit cards charge on these purchases.
If you have a Rogers cell phone plan, you can also get 5 free "Roam Like Home" days, so you can use your phone without having to pay for roaming data for those 5 days. This is a game-changer if you're on a short trip as making a call from abroad or using data can be crazy expensive these days.
The best part of all of this is that there's absolutely no annual fee or spending requirements you'll have to be aware of.
After the bonus increase, will you get a Rogers Red Mastercard?
