It’s a dedicated low interest credit card that doesn’t offer rewards or insurance (the goal with this card is to save on interest, not accumulate rewards).

Definitely NOT the best offer. CIBC Dividend frequently offer lower rates... 0% with transfer fee as low as 1%. These 3% transfer fees are killing these balance transfer offers, though when compared to other credit card debts, it is then, and only then that it is worth it, For true comparison you have to take the % offer, add in the transfer fee then annualize the whole rate. Then you can compare rates and see what is best. For example, a 1% offer for 6 months with a 3% transfer fee works out to about a 7% annualized rate because you would have to pay the transfer fee twice in a 1 year period (quick simple rounded math, assumes same offer twice).

Hello, You may be thinking about the CIBC Select Visa, which does have promotional balance transfers from time to time. But, the length of the promotions aren't as long, the card has an annual fee, and the permanent interest rate is higher afterwards. You may save a little more up front, but you'll get it back over the course of the full term.

I agree, I have a CIBC credit card and I get offers of 0% interest and 1% transfer fee from 6 to 10 months offers. I use to have a MBNA credit card and they use to give me offers like that, but then the transfer fee went up, so I cancelled the card and went with CIBC.

Hey Richard, Many credit cards companies offer balance transfers if you already have a credit card with them, the offers vary by bank. But if you need an offer right now, the MBNA True Line Mastercard is your best bet.
