What's new for Marriott Bonvoy and Japan Airlines

Marriott Bonvoy and Japan Airlines are not new partners. For quite some time, members have been able to transfer Marriott Bonvoy points to JAL Mileage Bank (JMB) Miles, and convert JAL Miles back into Bonvoy points. This relationship took a big step forward in July 2026 when the two brands expanded their existing partnership into a strategic loyalty alliance.

Now, once you link your Marriott Bonvoy and JMB accounts, you'll receive annual benefits based on your Marriott Bonvoy status.

You can earn FLY ON points, Japan Airlines' status currency, every year, based on your Marriott Bonvoy status – no flights required.

Here's how many points you'll get, depending on your Bonvoy status:

StatusAnnual FLY ON points earned

Marriott Bonvoy airline partnerships

Japan Airlines is part of a growing list of more than 35 airline partners in the Marriott Bonvoy program. Members can already earn and transfer rewards with programs including Air Canada Aeroplan, British Airways, Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer, and more.

For a limited time, you can also get 5,000 bonus Marriott Bonvoy points by linking your Marriott account to Emirates Skywards.
