Expedia's One Key rewards program is getting a little more useful for vacation rental fans.

Starting November 10, 2026, One Key will officially launch on Vrbo.

Members will be able to use OneKeyCash earned through Expedia to book eligible Vrbo stays, while new eligible bookings through either Expedia or Vrbo can earn OneKeyCash for use across both brands.

And there's no work for you to do, either. According to Expedia, existing One Key members don't need to take any action to take advantage of this change.

What changes when One Key launches on Vrbo?

The biggest change is that rewards will work more seamlessly across the 2 Expedia Group brands (Expedia and Vrbo).

As of November 10, members can earn OneKeyCash on eligible Vrbo bookings and then use those rewards toward eligible travel on Expedia or Vrbo.

Likewise, OneKeyCash already sitting in your Expedia account can now be put toward an eligible Vrbo vacation rental. Vrbo bookings can also help members collect trip elements, which determine One Key tier status.

This also means you can work towards Silver, Gold, or Platinum status with Vrbo bookings.

How Expedia's One Key rewards work

One Key is Expedia's free travel rewards program, which rewards you with OneKeyCash, plus 1 trip element per eligible hotel night, vacation rental night, car rental day, cruise night, and activity tickets.

$1 in OneKeyCash is worth $1 CAD towards travel.

The program has 4 membership tiers, and members move up a tier as they collect more trip elements.

All tiers earn 0.2% on eligible flights, but other earn rates and perks vary. Here's a full breakdown:

Blue: 0-4 trip elements

Blue members earn 1% in OneKey cash on eligible hotels, vacation rentals, activities, cruises, packages and cars.

They also save 10% or more on over 100,000 hotels worldwide and get access to free Price Tracking for flights on Expedia.

Silver: 5-14 trip elements

Silver members earn:

  • 2% in OneKeyCash on eligible hotels, vacation rentals, activities, cruises, packages and cars
  • 3% in OneKeyCash on VIP Access properties,

Silver status can save you 15% or more on over 100,000 hotels worldwide.

Move from Blue to Silver by taking a 2 night road trip – 2 nights in a vacation rental plus 3 days of car rentals equals 5 trip elements.

Gold: 15-29 trip elements

Gold members earn:

  • 2% in OneKey cash on eligible hotels, vacation rentals, activities, cruises, packages and cars
  • 5% in OneKeyCash on VIP Access properties

Gold status also means you save 20% or more on over 100,000 hotels worldwide, plus room upgrades when available.

Hit gold status with a 7-day cruise, 3 hotel nights on either end, and 2 flight tickets – that's 15 trip elements right there!

Platinum: 30+ trip elements

Platinum members earn:

  • 2% in OneKey cash on eligible hotels, vacation rentals, activities, cruises, packages and cars
  • 6% in OneKeyCash on VIP Access properties

Plus, with Platinum status, you save 20% or more on over 100,000 hotels worldwide, plus room upgrades when available

You can make it to platinum with a 2-week honeymoon – all it takes to earn 30 trip elements is 2 flights, 14 nights in a hotel, and a 14-day car rental.

Earn rewards on Vrbo

The change makes One Key more flexible for travellers who don't stick to the hotel scene. Vacation rentals were already part of the broader Expedia One Key ecosystem when booked through Expedia, but bringing the program directly onto Vrbo means members can now earn and redeem within the Vrbo platform itself.

That's particularly useful for families or groups who regularly choose vacation homes over hotels. It can also make tier status easier to reach. A five-night Vrbo stay, for example, can generate five trip elements – enough to take a Blue status member to Silver status in one vacation.

And since OneKey Cash can be earned on top of eligible airline miles and credit card rewards, there's some stacking potential here too. If you're already booking through Expedia or Vrbo, getting rewards across both is a pretty big win.
