Our review
The BMO CashBack Business Mastercard is a business card, with no annual fee, that allows you to earn:
- 1.5% cash back rewards on gas, office supplies, cell phone bills, and internet bills,
- 1.75% cashback at any Shell location, and
- 0.75% on all other spending.
On top of that, this card will give you a welcome bonus of 10% cash back on gas, office supplies, cell phone bills and internet bills for 3 months (up to $150 earned.)
Impressive cash back rewards
Want to see that return on spending in action?
Let's say you have 10 employees with company cell phones, and each cell phone costs roughly $80 per month.
In this cards first year, you could earn $288.00 worth of cash back on your companies cell phone bills alone. That is pretty impressive for a no-fee card.
| Number of Employees | Monthly total in cell phone bills (avg. $80) | Annual total in cell phone bills (avg. $80) | Annual rewards (1.5% + 6% for up to 4 months up to 125$) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5 | $400 | $4,800 | $144 |
| 10 | $800 | $9,600 | $238 |
| 15 | $1,200 | $14,400 | $310 |
Extended Grace period and Liability Waiver Program
What makes the BMO CashBack Business Mastercard interesting as a business card is its Extended Grace Period and its Liability Waiver Program.Extended Grace Period means that you get some extra time between the time your statement was issued and the time you have to pay your bill before you get charged interest.
You will be given a few days more than other cards, giving you at least 25 days in total – freeing up some of your company's valuable cash flow.
The Liability Waiver Program will give you peace of mind if you have secondary cards that you have distributed to your employees. This program provides security against card misuse by waiving the customer’s liability for wrongful charges made by the other cardholders.
Insurance
This card also includes 2 basic insurance coverage types:
- extended warranty, and
- purchase protection.
Although this isn't the best coverage, for a no-fee card, something is better than nothing.
The bottom line
While any small business could benefit from the BMO CashBack Business Mastercard, companies with multiple employees, company cell phones, and nearby Shell locations will especially benefit from rewards they could earn with this card.
The best part? You get this all for no annual fee.

It's a no fee card. For a no fee card the SUB is great if you can use it (10% on cellular, internet and office supplies). I paid off the financing on 2 cell phones (10% is amount processed after tax). There are better cards out there but for a free card i think this is well worth it. Obviously if you spend lots get a something with a better return so long as you use the return and don't just let it sit.
