You can earn Wyndham Rewards points through hotel stays, car rentals, and shopping, and redeem them for free nights, merchandise, gift cards, tours, experiences, and more. We’ll explain the program's value and see how it compares to other popular rewards programs.

What are Wyndham Rewards?

Wyndham Rewards is the loyalty program offered by Wyndham hotels and resorts. It’s free to join and you’ll earn points for every stay at a Wyndham property. With more than 9,100 locations around the world, it’s easy to rack up points!

In addition to earning points that you can redeem for future hotel stays, the rewards program also offers perks and benefits – especially to its higher-tiered members. We’ll explain more about those in a minute.

How to earn Wyndham Rewards

The easiest way to earn points is by staying at a Wyndham hotel or resort, though you have other earning options, as well.

Hotel and resort stays

Check out the Wyndham brands to see the company’s extensive list of hotels and resorts. You’ll earn 10 points per US$1 on base room rates or 1,000 points, whichever is more. You do not earn points on taxes and fees.

Pro Tip: Wyndham frequently runs promotional offers that allow you to earn extra points for your qualified stays. Sign up for Wyndham Rewards emails to make sure you don’t miss an opportunity for bonus points.

Wyndham Travel Bundles

When you bundle hotels, flights, car rentals, cruises, and more through Wyndham Travel Bundles, you’ll earn Wyndham Rewards points on the total package cost.

Meeting and event bookings

If you book a Wyndham space for meetings or events like weddings, you’ll earn points at a rate of 1 point per US$1 spent. It might seem low at first glance, but it includes spending from guest room blocks that you reserve, as well as food and beverage charges.

Avis and Budget car rentals

Anytime you rent a car with Avis or Budget, you can earn Wyndham Reward points. You'll earn 100 points per day, to a maximum of 500 points per rental. Wyndham Rewards members also enjoy a 30% discount when booking a rental car through Avis or Budget.

Online shopping

Shop at popular retailers through the Wyndham Rewards Shopping page and earn Wyndham Rewards on your purchases. The number of points varies, so you'll have to head to the site to see what you could earn. Here's a sampling of offers:

Tours and activities

Get rewarded for enjoying unique experiences when you book an activity through the Wyndham Rewards experience website. You’ll earn 10 points for every US$1 you spend on an experience. It will show you an estimated tally during checkout.

In Canada, experiences include the Banff gondola ride, whale watching in Vancouver, a tour of Niagara Falls, and helicopter tours of Toronto. Other destinations with activities include London, New York, Charleston, Las Vegas, and many more.

Purchasing points

Wyndham allows you to buy points for yourself or gift them to friends and family. You can purchase up to 1,000 points at a time, up to 100,000 per calendar year. Wyndham Rewards occasionally runs limited-time offers with bonus points on purchases for elite status members.

While you can transfer points from other rewards programs, the list is limited to 4 American options: Capital One (US), Citi ThankYou Rewards, HSBC US Rewards, and Ramp Rewards

Surveys

When you join Opinion Rewards Panel and complete your first survey, you’ll earn 500 Wyndham points. You’ll earn additional points for each survey you complete after that.

How to redeem Wyndham Rewards

As you might expect, the best value for your rewards is to redeem them for hotel stays – but it’s not your only option. We’ll cover your redemption choices from best to worst, with point values in cents per point (CPP).

Hotel stays: 0.90 CPP

It's simple to book a free night using your Wyndham Rewards. The program has 3 levels: 7,500, 15,000, or 30,000 points.

When you find a hotel you want to book, select the Wyndham Rewards points option and you'll see the cost in points per night. Your points can cover taxes and fees, and there’s an option to pay with points + cash if you don’t have sufficient points to cover your whole stay.

To get our value, we surveyed 33 Wyndham hotels across Canada. We looked at bookings for a 3-night stay from Thursday to Sunday, 3 weeks in advance. All but 3 of the hotels we looked at were 15,000 points per night and we saw a range of values, from 0.48 to 1.77 CPP. On average, they amounted to 0.90 CPP.

There was plenty of availability, and we didn't have any issues finding reward stays.

Transfer to airline partners: 0.4 CPP

You can transfer your Wyndham points to 9 different airlines, including Aeroplan, United MileagePlus, and Avianca LifeMiles.

Head to the transfer points redemption page and select the partner to which you want to move points. Transfers are 6,000 Wyndham points to 1,200 airline points. Using our typical 2 cents per mile valuation on flights, this translates into a value of 0.4 CPP.

Note that transfers typically take 6 – 8 weeks.

Gift cards: 0.33 – 0.37 CPP

While it significantly lowers the value of your points, you can redeem Wyndham Rewards points for gift cards from the Wyndham Rewards Catalogue. There are 4 denominations of gift cards available, and no matter which retailer they're from, they all cost the same number of points:

Merchandise: 0.24 CPP

Like most rewards programs, Wyndham Rewards has a merchandise catalogue with a variety of items to choose from. Here's a sampling of items we looked at, how many points they cost, and what the item costs in CAD (April 2025):

As with most rewards merchandise catalogues, point values are significantly less than if you redeem them for travel. We found an average of 0.24 cents per point.

The last way you can redeem your Wyndham Rewards points is for experiences. We already mentioned that you can earn points by booking tours and activities around the world; it’s probably no surprise that you can redeem points for them, too.

Wyndham Rewards vs. other hotel loyalty programs

We compared the top loyalty rewards programs in Canada and looked specifically at point returns for hotels. When we calculated the cost per point for redeeming a free night, we found that Wyndham Rewards actually offered the best value at 0.90 CPP.

The InterContinental Hotels reward program took a close second with 0.84 CPP, and Best Western Rewards wasn’t far behind at 0.83 CPP.

These all beat out Hilton Honors, which amounts to 0.64 CPP for hotel stays.

Overall, the best hotel rewards program for you will depend on where you travel and which brands you tend to book with the most. If you frequent Wyndham hotels and resorts, you’ll quickly earn points that get you some nice redemption options.
