What are Wyndham Rewards points worth?

Wyndham Rewards points don't have a fixed value across all the redemption options, but the top value possible is 0.9 cents per point (CPP). The lowest value is approximately 0.24 CPP, but it can vary.

We use a simple formula to determine how much each reward point is worth:

Value of reward in CAD / cost of reward in points x 100 = value in cents per point (CPP)

As you can see, cashing in your points for hotels is your best redemption opportunity:

How to earn Wyndham Rewards

The easiest way to earn points is by staying at a Wyndham hotel or resort, though you have other earning options, too.

Hotel and resort stays

Check out the Wyndham brands to see the company's extensive list of hotels and resorts. You'll earn 10 points per $1 USD on base room rates or 1,000 points – whichever is more. You don't earn points on taxes and fees.

Pro tip: Wyndham frequently runs promotional offers that allow you to earn extra points for your qualified stays. Sign up for Wyndham Rewards emails to make sure you don't miss an opportunity for bonus points.

Wyndham Travel Bundles

Earn points on your whole trip when you bundle hotels, flights, car rentals, and cruises with Wyndham Travel Bundles.

Meeting and event bookings

If you book a Wyndham space for a meeting or event, you earn 1 point per $1 USD spent. While that might sound low, remember that it applies to your total bill, covering everything from room blocks you reserve for guests to food and drinks.

Avis and Budget car rentals

Any time you rent a car with Avis or Budget, you can earn Wyndham Rewards points. You'll earn 100 points per day, to a maximum of 500 points per rental. Wyndham Rewards members also enjoy up to 35% off when booking a rental car through Avis or Budget.

Tours and activities

Get rewarded for enjoying unique experiences when you book an activity through the Wyndham Rewards experience website. You'll earn 10 points for every $1 USD you spend on an experience. It will show you an estimated tally during checkout.

In Canada, experiences include:

  • The Banff gondola ride
  • Whale watching in Vancouver
  • A tour of Niagara Falls
  • Helicopter tours of Toronto

Other destinations with activities include London, New York, Charleston, Las Vegas, and many more.

Purchasing points

Wyndham allows you to buy points for yourself or gift them to friends and family. You can purchase up to 1,000 points at a time, up to 100,000 per calendar year.

Wyndham Rewards occasionally runs limited-time offers with bonus points on purchases for elite status members.

While you can transfer points from other rewards programs, the list is limited to American options:

  • Capital One (US)
  • Citi ThankYou Rewards
  • HSBC US Rewards
  • Wells Fargo
  • BILT
  • Klarna
  • Chase Ultimate Rewards
  • Ramp Rewards

Surveys

When you join the e-Rewards Opinion Panel and complete your first survey within 90 days, you'll earn 500 e-Reward points that you can transfer to Wyndham Rewards. You'll earn additional points for each survey you complete after that.

How to redeem Wyndham Rewards

As you might expect, the best value for your Wyndham Rewards is to redeem them for hotel stays, where you'll earn 0.9 CPP.

This isn't your only option, of course. Here are all of your redemption values, from most to least valuable:

Hotel stays: 0.9 CPP

The Wyndham Rewards program has 3 levels for hotel room bookings:

  • 7,500 points
  • 15,000 points
  • 30,000 points

When you find a hotel you want to book, select the Wyndham Rewards points option, and you'll see the cost in points-per-night. Your points can cover taxes and fees, and there's an option to pay with points and cash if you don't have sufficient points to cover your whole stay.

To get our value, we surveyed 33 Wyndham hotels across Canada. We looked at bookings for a 3-night stay from Thursday to Sunday, 3 weeks in advance. All but 3 of the hotels we looked at were 15,000 points per night, and we saw a range of values, from 0.48 to 1.77 CPP. On average, they amounted to 0.9 CPP.

There was plenty of availability, and we didn't have any issues finding reward stays.

Merchandise: 0.44 CPP

Like most rewards programs, Wyndham Rewards has a merchandise catalogue with a variety of items to choose from.

Here's a sample of items we looked at, how many points they cost, and what the item costs in CAD (July 2026):

ItemsPoints requiredCAD price + 13% taxPoint value (CPP)
JBL True Wireless Vibe Earbuds28,160$113.670.40
Milwaukee Shockwave 32-Piece Driver Bit Set18,275$192.501.05
Starfrit Personal Blender19,660$73.390.37
Garmin Index S2 Smart Scale – White74,480$248.590.33
Cuckoo 3-Cup Rice Cooker18,955$45.190.24
Apple TV 4K Wi‑Fi – 64GB81,245$316.380.39
Polaroid Now i-Type Instant Camera – White64,950$207.190.32

As with most rewards merchandise catalogues, point values are significantly less than if you redeem them for travel. We found an average of 0.44 CPP.

To view the entire merchandise catalogue, see Exclusively Yours Rewards.

!blockquote In the past, you could earn points for the merchandise you bought through Wyndham's catalogue. However, Wyndham changed these terms in spring 2026, and you can now redeem points only for merchandise.

Transfer to airline partners: 0.4 CPP

You can transfer your Wyndham Rewards points to several airlines, including Aeroplan, United MileagePlus, and Avianca LifeMiles.

Head to the transfer points redemption page and select the partner to which you want to move points. Transfers are 6,000 Wyndham points to 1,200 airline points. Using our typical 2-cents-per-mile valuation for flights, this translates to a value of 0.4 CPP.

Note that transfers typically take 6 – 8 weeks.

Gift cards: 0.33 – 0.37 CPP

While it significantly lowers the value of your points, you can redeem Wyndham Rewards points for gift cards. There are 4 denominations of gift cards available, and no matter which retailer they're from, they all cost the same number of points:

Gift card valuePoints requiredPoint value (CPP)
$103,0000.33
$257,5000.33
$5014,0000.36
$10027,0000.37

To redeem your points for gift cards, add the gift card to your shopping basket and check out using your points.

Tours, activities, and experiences

The last way you can redeem your Wyndham Rewards points is for experiences. We already mentioned that you can earn points by booking tours and activities worldwide. So it's probably no surprise that you can redeem points for them, too.

Since points vary widely by location and activity, check the Wyndham website for the most up-to-date information.

Wyndham Rewards vs. other hotel loyalty programs

When we calculated the cost per point for redeeming a free night with various hotel rewards programs, we found that Wyndham Rewards actually offered the best value at 0.9 CPP.

The InterContinental Hotels reward program took a close second with 0.84 CPP, and Best Western Rewards wasn't far behind at 0.83 CPP.

FAQ

Can I collect Wyndham Rewards in Canada?

To earn and collect Wyndham Rewards points in Canada, book qualifying stays at a participating hotel or resort property. You can also purchase points, transfer points from other rewards programs, book rental cars, take surveys, and book events or meetings.

Is Wyndham Rewards a good program?

If you frequently stay at one of the many hotels that participate in Wyndham Rewards, it makes sense to join this rewards program. Base members enjoy free Wi-Fi and exclusive member rates, and after just 5 hotel stays, you'll earn benefits like preferred room choice, dedicated customer service, and late check-out.

How many Wyndham Rewards points do I need for a free night?

Since hotel rewards vary by the exact hotel, location, room rate, and travel dates, the number of points you need isn't fixed. That said, Wyndham has 3 free room tiers: 7,500, 15,000, or 30,000 points per bedroom, so you'll likely need at least 7,500 Wyndham Rewards points to get a free hotel stay.

Can I get a Wyndham Rewards credit card in Canada?

Unfortunately, Wyndham doesn't partner with a credit card network or issuer to offer co-branded credit cards in Canada. However, you can double dip with rewards points by using one of Canada's top credit cards for hotels to earn additional points.

How much are 30,000 Wyndham points worth?

There's no set formula for how much value you'll get from 30,000 Wyndham Rewards points, but we recommend putting them toward a free night's stay. 30,000 points will put you at the top redemption tier, which means you can get a luxurious hotel room or stay at a highly sought-after destination.

What hotel chains are part of Wyndham?

Wyndham operates a long list of hotel chains, including Days Inn, Super 8, La Quinta, Travelodge, Howard Johnson, Ramada, AmericInn, and more. Wyndham also operates several resorts and vacation rentals, such as Club Wyndham, WorldMark by Wyndham, Shell Vacations Club, and Margaritaville Vacation Club.
