Pros and cons of ATB credit cards

If you’re an Alberta resident, ATB credit cards offer both benefits and drawbacks to consider.

  • Excellent insurance coverage. Most ATB credit cards provide decent insurance – even the no fee cards. Keep in mind that the basic credit cards don’t offer coverage. The ATB World Elite Mastercard has one of the best insurance packages of any credit card in Canada.
  • Choose your card design. With the exception of the ATB World Elite Mastercard, ATB allows you to choose the design of your credit card from 80 different options.
  • Decent rewards. By and large, the rewards offered by ATB credit cards are decent. They're not breathtaking by any means, but they stack up to what others are offering.
  • Only available in Alberta. ATB is based in Alberta and their products are only available to residents of the province.
  • Limited perks. ATB cards don’t offer much in the way of perks, though the ATB World Elite Mastercard includes a few lounge passes.
