Best ways to redeem your Aeroplan points

To get the most value from your Aeroplan points, you’ll want to book travel with Air Canada. However, if you can’t travel but want to use your points, redeeming them for an Air Canada gift card is the next best option.

Your highest value redemptions are all related to travel in some way. Unfortunately, the only non-travel options (merchandise and store gift cards) are your worst redemption opportunities since your points lose much of their value.

Learn more about Aeroplan

The Aeroplan rewards program, operated by Air Canada, is free to join and earns you Aeroplan points for flights, flight-related services, and purchases made with an Aeroplan credit card.

The Aeroplan program also allows you to earn status, which grants you perks like Maple Leaf Lounge access, complimentary meals, and priority airport services.

The best Aeroplan credit cards

Using an Aeroplan credit card is a great way to earn points without travelling. One of the best Aeroplan credit cards is the American Express Cobalt Card, which earns:

  • 5 points per $1 spent on eligible groceries and restaurants (up to $2,500 spent per month)
  • 3 points per $1 spent on eligible streaming services
  • 2 points per $1 spent on eligible gas, transit, and ride share purchases
  • 1 point per $1 spent on foreign currency purchases
  • 1 point per $1 spent on all other purchases
