If you have some hotel loyalty rewards kicking around and you’re not sure what to do with them, from now until December 11th, 2017, you can…

Convert them to Aeroplan Miles and get a 30% bonus.

(Keep in mind, bonus miles may take up to 4-6 weeks to be credited.)

Changes are coming

Despite the changes that are coming for Aeroplan miles in 2020, we don’t think these rewards should be counted out just yet.

Why? Because Aeroplan is the most popular airline rewards program in Canada and we expect they will fight to keep their members…and for some people, there is real value in a promotion like this.

Credit cards that will help you benefit even more

The Best Western Mastercard from MBNA card gives new cardholders 20,000 points after they make their first purchase.

And while we wouldn’t always suggest cardholders transfer those points to Aeroplan miles, when you’re getting a 30% bonus it’s worth considering.

20,000 Best Western points would normally equal 4,000 Aeroplan miles. Add 30% to that, and you’re up to 5,200. Considering we value Aeroplan miles to be worth 2.5 cents, that means your sign up bonus is going to be worth $130 – not bad for a no fee card.

The Starwood Preferred Guest Credit Card from American Express is a card we definitely have to mention, because one really nice thing about SPG points is that they usually transfer 1:1 to more than 30 airline rewards programs.

When you transfer 20,000 of these points to an airline rewards program you already get a 25% bonus, but until December 11th, 2017, you’ll get an extra 30% on top of that 25%.

That’s a combined transfer bonus of 62.5%.

Plus, if you’re already a SPG card holder but don’t have 20,000 points saved, you can still take advantage of the 30% bonus by itself because it only requires 5,000 points instead of 20,000.
